A Relaxing Time At The Arcade by Doc ill

Description:
You are trapped in a retro arcade... but you are not alone... Your only chance of surviving is to beat the 3 arcade games!
For the theme (Combine 2 Incompatible Genres), we tried pairing Minigames with Survival Horror. The result was much more coherent than we expected.
WARNING: This game is indeed a spoopy HORROR game.
Tools:
- Unity 3D
- Blender
- Substance
- Photoshop
- Studio One 3
- BFXR
Note: All art assets, music, and sounds are original (with the exception of open source fonts).
Dev log:
Version 1.1 is the original Ludum Dare submission. Here are the following changes that have been made since then (up to Version 1.2): - (Quality of life) Pressing escape while on an arcade machine now gets the player off the arcade machine instead of quitting to the main menu. This is to avoid the frustration of losing progress. - (Feature) Pressing escape while NOT on an arcade machine now opens a menu to restart/quit instead of immediately quitting to the main menu. This is to avoid the frustration of losing progress.
Let us know in the comments if there are any changes or improvements you would like to see. :)

Loved the sound: simple but chilled my spine :-)
Give my game a look, too! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/platscii
I actually went like HOLY SHIT when the ghost flew into Space Intruders and then popped out of the machine. Very cool idea and you're right, it was very coherent!
It was a good call to use the same "ghost" sprite throughout, because even after only seeing it twice, it starts to take on the feeling of a real lurking nemesis!
Mechanically, the minigames were easy enough the play/control and finish. Even with zero instructions on how to play the controls were very intuitive and consistent.
The minigames were great for its own right, there could be a little polish to make them feel better.
I did find that first moving around my sensitivity was a little to high, it might've been my mouse settings but it was a little sensitive. And the movement speed was a tad quick, but i adjusted quickly and it was fine.
When i first joined and played the game, i looked at all the machines and was like "do i really have to play like 20 minigames", until i saw the coloured machine. Very nice touch. Implementing the rule of three's gave the game its balance. Not too little and not too many games.
Sound and audio was great. the ambient sound kept me on my toes and the chasing music gave me feedback on the 'ghost?' allowing me to know when the chase is done. If u had the time, adding extra sound effects would've been nice, like footsteps or the classic arcade machine control sound.
Hoped i helped with this comment. This is a very immersive and great game. I like it. Congratulations man!
Furthermore, adding sounds for footsteps and button presses on the arcade machines would be awesome for creating immersion.
Finally, thanks for letting me play your game on stream! It can be hard for people to show off their work to the world. Keep at it!
The horror didn't really work for me. It was a bit more silly than scary. Although perhaps that's what was intended for a "spoopy" game!👻👻👻 I think the sound was pretty good for a horror game, but I didn't have any feeling of tension, and there weren't any big scary jump scares. Even when the ghost popped out of the second arcade machine, it was more funny than scary. I think it might have been creepier if there was more weird ambient stuff in the arcade itself. Maybe have the ghost wandering around the arcade, and you have to hide from it when it gets near. But anyways, it seemed like the horror parts worked for some of the other commenters so maybe I'm just too old and jaded...
Despite the horror stuff not really working for me, I found myself enjoying the 3 different arcade games. The first one was especially fun, it was interesting how you have to dodge your own hammers but also shoot fast enough to break all the boxes before they reach you.
