The mixed themes are Horror and Fishing, although arguably it is more like Parody and Fishing since I didn't really take the horror theme seriously.

First time working in 1st person / 3D and my first game jam. Hope it was worth it for a laugh. also actually had to work IRL in the middle of it which really limited progress.

The randomizers I made for how long it would take for Mr Bear to approach you and how long it takes to get a bite might seem a little unfair, given more time I would fix it but that's Ludum dare for you, I got as far as I could lol.

Left mouse button is the only input you use in the game - TO CATCH FISH YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE FLOAT TO GO ALL THE WAY DOWN -

The first time that voice spoke, it cracked me up. Nice job there. I caught 3 fish then Mr. Bear broke my neck. Made me jump too. Nice work. The sound effects could use a little work, although the lure plop was pretty satisfying. Overall, a solid entry.

Mr. Bear actually scared the f out of me :joy: I actually expected a bear just chasing you while you are trying to fish or something, but boy was i wrong! I really enjoyed it!

Interesting concept I like the humor twist.

Game reminds me of : Welcome to the Game II

Except no horror lol

It's a little BEAR-bones in places, but it was actually surprisingly scary. The fact you have to focus so hard on fishing meant Mr. Bear showing up actually jolted me awake.

Nice creepy atmosphere! Audio is funny and Mr. Bear keeps the paranoia level on crank! This could be heart attack inducing in VR lol. Cool idea

Great suspense in this game, everything looks and sounds so eerie. The game has a good sense of fun as well. Very enjoyable.

I like the concept a lot! The randomizers did seem a little unfair but :shrug:
Here's a couple other things:
- The lighting was pretty good but the graphics in general were fairly basic. I know compo in 3D is really hard though :slight_smile:
- The bear was funny! It scared me the first time but then it just got funny. @niterich nails it in terms of gameplay increasing suspense.
- It didn't seem like catching fish actually made Mr. Bear happy? Or maybe that was just me.

Overall it was a good concept and fun to play. Good job!

@samusoidal Thanks for the input! Yeah it might not have been clear what I meant by keep Mr Bear happy lol. The way the game works is that at random points in time, Mr Bear will walk up behind the player, and if there are any fish in the bowl, he takes them and walks away happy, you can just about see this in the dark if you look to your left after catching a fish, the little "nooo" sounds is mr bear taking them away and leaving the bowl empty.

Obviously if Mr Bear comes up to you and your bowl has no fish, he is not happy and breaks your neck

Definitely kept me on my toes lol. A couple more interactions with the fishing functionality could make it funner. Sound effects were funny as well.

The sound effects are obviously the highlight of this game. Had a good laugh haha.
It's always good use his own voice for game soundeffects and you did a great job at implementing it.
The fishing itself was okay, nothing to big but atleast it had some kind of stages (pole is up, pole is halfway down, and pole is down) which was nice.
The bear spooked me quite hard first time, so also good job on that :P

Maybe for next time some kind of timer when the bear is coming would be nice or some kind of other distraction.
Anyways, Keep up the good work!
