Nanonator by RAC-Games
Update: Due to merging issues a few 3d models couln't be used in the jam version. We created a post-jam version with these models (which where made during the jam). This version also includes some minor bug fixes.

In this bullet-hell you become the bloodied hero of a child, a tiny robot, just nanometers in length that eliminates harmful microbia that threaten the young life.
How to play
Use WASD or the arrow keys for movement, space for shooting and shift for activating your shields.
Why are there so many developers?
This team is an open university gamejam group for everyone to participate. Our students are mainly from maths, physics and biomedical engineering. The course runs the whole year and everyone can drop in and out at any time. This also means that nobody in the team is a fullfletched developer, artist or anything relevant to game design. Many of us have to learn everything from scratch DURING the gamejams. Any questions on how this course is organized, just PM Knorz.
How it went
This was our third entry and this time it was the worst experience so far. The theme wasn't our favourite and non of us managed to take a nap before the jam started at 3.00 a.m. here in germany. Our idea was to make a bullethell in which the controls changed the more weapons you had. You could describe it as a mix of guitar hero and a bullethell. We took really long (over 24 hours) for a working prototype and ... it was really really awful. So we scrapped the idea and went down the path of a "normal" bullethell. One of our greatest issues was the lead of the team. Normally Knorz and jeb try to structure the group from beginning on, but we wanted to try a different setup this time. This didn*t turn out well, no one felt responsible and the communication was a mess leading to some tension. More on the in our postmortem ...

Good luck and give 'em hell.
PS: Try to beat our score :P

PD: how can i see my score? :P
There are a few problems though:
* You can't skip the intro sequence
* No reset button after you died
* The shield doesn't last long
* Volume slider doesn't work
Also, the game is pretty generic, in my opinion.
Something I found interesting is that every time you die the game is not reset, but it is marked by points. It hurts but not frustrating.
Some button to exit while playing?
Good good good! <3
The bloodcells confused me for the first seconds of the game haha, I thought I had to avoid them, but I figured it out fast enough =)
Nice work!
The game looks nice (if a little creepy at first glance), the controls are tight, the gameplay is very
enjoyable and the music is awesome! You all even took the effort to make an intro sequence.
All in all, this has been probably my favorite Ludum Dare 40 game so far! One last note, my score was 730
Come check out my game if you like!
