P3tr by zulubo

[raw]
made by zulubo for LD 39 (COMPO)

EDIT: Fixed the mouse cursor being a black square! Also, added Mac + Linux builds

P3tr is a 2.5D puzzle platformer. You play as P3tr, a unique little robot who is tasked with saving a spaceship after it is hit by a solar storm and loses power. You have to make your way through the darkened and spooky spaceship, lighting it up as you go along.

Here's a little video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XSdLxXcwvE&t=65s

P3tr has a limitless power source, so as the lights turn out and life support fails It's up to him to repair them and jump start the ship's reactor.

I made this game using:

Unity

Blender

Gimp

Substance Painter

For sound design + music:

Logic Pro

Chiptone

Audacity

A spatula and my floor

The sound effects are terrible because I literally did all of them in the last 30 minutes of the compo :P

My highlight was rediscovering how terrible I am at animation, and struggling with it for hours and hours on end.

I had a great and wild time working on this game, I streamed my entire process to twitch also (only like two people watched, but that's ok) and you can watch it here: https://www.twitch.tv/zuluboproductions/videos/all

Oh, by the way, I didn't stream any of the audio production just because I did that on a different computer

Great job. This is very well polished for the time frame. Mechanics are interesting although the enemies would have been better if they took slightly less time to die.

The graphics are very polished to say this was made in a game jam. Loved the electric beam idea and having to power objects and kill enemies using it. The only thing I would say is that the ladder on top of the large wheel was not very visible, and I died and had to go back and start up the wheel again. Other than that small thing, really great game!

Amazing game!
The graphics were top tier, the cutscenes were great, music was good and the game itself was fun!

@pixelformedstudios ah, yeah, I can see how that ladder would be hard to miss if you didn't know it was there. Sorry

Most definitely one of the most polished 3d games this LD. Gameplay and puzzles was stellar as well, although sometimes the puzzles felt a bit long. Still though, this game feels like it had a ton of effort put into it, and it shows.

Really polished on all fronts for such a short time. Fun gameplay too. On my client the cursor was just a black box which was really hard to see in dark parts of the screen though. Not sure if it was bugged or if there just wasn't time to make a graphic. Normal mouse cursor would have been nicer. Great job though.

I loved the concept and the graphics were very polished. I just found some of the areas a bit annoying because some of the new objects' purposes were not evident. For intance, the trampoline was difficult to grasp at first.

Overall, it was a great game with a great idea.

Graphics are awesome, no let me rephrase that, insane in this timeframe! Some controls seem a bit buggy at times. Also I had a black cursor. (I think a fix like that is allowed by the rules). Music was pretty nice too, though the SFX were a bit contrasting it. But I'm really impressed to see how well you master your tools.

Score: Mind==Blown/5

Wow, absolutely beautyful. The music, the atmosphere, the puzzles. Very good work!
The only imperfection is the quite hidden ladder on one of the puzzles (luckily somebody commented on that, otherwise I would have probably got stuck closed the game at that point...).
Also the length is quite good :)

Great graphics, sound, and music. The charging mechanic was a fun idea, and I really like how you turned the theme on it's head a bit. Overall, a great experience!

@ick I fixed the cursor, thanks for letting me know! Ended up being a weird bug that only showed up after it was built.

Very nice, powering mechanic was fun, maybe make the enemies die a little quicker or give some areas a damage multiplier (like if you power up a defense station on the wall and then stand next to it you do more damage, idk). Overall great entry.

Wow - super impressive entry! Art/music/lighting were all top notch. The only thing that prevented me from playing all the way through was the camera motion making me nauseous - if there was an option to remove the sway, I'd definitely play all the way through. You put a ton of work into this and it shows - awesome work!

Not sure where to start. The PBR, the camera work, or of course the lighting... The textures were super! The rust of the cog, the tile flooring, and Pet3rs suit thingee. So well done. Look I don't know what you did with the camera aside from giving us a side view of the action, but something about the tilting and the movement of it made it verrrry interesting to play and explore in. I love the power to illuminate bulbs. I know it's unnecessary at certain points but I do it anyway because it looks and sounds awesome. Also audio is good. Keep the spatula around for good luck. I didn't touch on everything here but those were the big things that stood out to me. Please keep up the good work.

I didn't mind the camera's sway, but I thought the blobs moved around too quickly to zap them. Overall, it was a beautiful creation.

I got stuck in the giant cog corridor and didn't know what to do. :(
But it looks so good and I like the setting so much, I'm gonna start over and try again.

@pedrowzee You've got to solve a puzzle to activate the gear!

Love your game, by the way :)
