Pennies Are Gold by commanderstitch

[raw]
made by commanderstitch for LD 40 (COMPO)

Pennies are gold!

Controls are WASD and mouse, sorry arrow key peeps. :/

You click on the images to build the factories, which produces the coins.

You collect the coins with your government building.

You spend the coins on military buildings.

You watch your military crush the opposition.

You win by defeating all of the opposition.

my take on the theme was that the main object (government) fits the theme perfectly.

that being said, you do get bigger as you build more stuff, so, heh, makes it easier to die. :-) enjoy the game! have funz and have a great LD40 compo game playing time!

It should be pretty easy to win! -commanderstitch

known bugs: -sometimes the building of buildings gets locked up where both of the triggers that prevent you from building get stuck on. (you will know it by the fact that the building is stuck being red no matter what you do) I didn't have time to really address it or throw in a system check for it. I was too busy trying to create a balance, which is really hard it seems! main.pngtitle.pngiwon.png

I had a brainfart moment when I realized the white house could move, lol. Very fun little game, I found myseklf using actual tactics to keep the invaders out with intermediate camps. And that walking animation is just brilliant X)

I really love your game! I made some tactics to beat the game more faster! I really like the idea of a governament building walking around haha its pretty funny, good job!

Nice entry but I could only play for about a minute before it crashed (new installation of Win7). Here's a play through: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/208221777

I got a crash as well. I think it happens right when one of my troops runs into an enemy troop.

Interesting game. The premise makes sense for the theme but the walking White House is really bizarre, lol. I played for a little while until it crashed (I'm not sure why) but here's my high score!

Really great game, although it didn't catch my eye from the screenshots... I gotta say it is from the few games that i really enjoyed and had fun like i would on a normal game :D Good work and i really appreciated having a timelapse also :D Keep up the good work!

P.S. I beat your score xD

At the start I thought it was silly, but then I saw how it is actually quite deep/strategic.
I like the balance between action/strategy:
* "action": running around collecting coins, scouting, avoiding crowds
* "strategy": deciding how best to lay out your factories so that you can harvest coins from them efficiently, deciding how to lay our your bases

nice!

Cool game, made me laugh and it was fun to play :)
It wasn't very clear who is my enemy and who is my ally at first though.

Very ambitious to make actual "strategy" game in a jam :)

Great game! It's like age of empires but a bit simplified xD I did get that bug of the red building, but I won anyway hahah

Felt a bit like John Conway's Game of Life, with a cameo by the White House. Really nice that you crammed in so many NPC's!

I would have liked some keyboard shortcuts for selecting a house to build.

Finally a game where i can be an ever expanding white house. Game was neat, had no clue what to do at the beginning though since it never explained how to create buildings to get money.
