Bot escape by Corbak

[raw]
made by Corbak for LD 44 (JAM)

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great jam!

In this little puzzle game you will control a bot that needs to escape its doom in a factory where bots work relentlessly until their battery exhaust.

You can control your bot with arrow keys, pick up objects with the down arrow and find a way out in this 10 level game.

You can recharge your power in sockets and pick up a battery to actually have a longer life if the level has one. Be careful not to run out of power and try to escape!

PS: We hope to see your highscore in the comments if you manage to finish all 10 levels ;-)

Not too innovative, but great implementation. I love it

It doesn't seem to fit the subject, but I feel that the game is very interesting, especially when it's a flame is so cool.

The controlls feels really smooth. The music reminds me of the old gameboy times :D And it is just a little thing but i like a lot how the player moves by himself trough the finish line. Good job!

That game is hard! I agree the introduction of the mechanics is perfect. Great job, loved the game! I wasn't too sure how "saving" the energy worked or what that did, but the rest of the game was legitimately fun!

Well done! I really enjoyed playing this game, and I like the audio as well. In the end though, it was too difficult for me >.<

This was very well designed! Simple mechanics, but adds a whole lot when paired with great level design. Some of the puzzles had me thinking. Splendid work!

Hi guys, how r u doing? First of all: your game is so funny, i had a great time playing that. I just managed to reach lvl 6, but its so hard hahaha ill try finish it again after review more games. I just love the lvl design, so much challenges. I got some references like portal and maybe some Super meat boy. Good music chice you did. Maybe you can work more in the graphics, i mean, i dont feel like the drone had so much
charisma, but, anyway, the game is awesome. Maybe with some rework, you can try make it comercial, the mechanics is great. Good Job!

@zampi Hello and thank you for your nice comment :) It means a lot

@ryan-westby Thank you very much for your nice comment :)

@zhaojun8443 Thank you for your commentary, actually yes we had several ideas to implement the theme but at the end we finished to make a puzzle game where actually we didn't exploit the theme to its fullest, still we are happy to have produced something like this as a first try :) Hopefully we will do better next time regarding theme implementation

@rakowu Thank you for your nice words! Seems to like automation much! :D Actually there are a bit of collision here and there but nothing too shaby. The music is not made by us but by MrNightVarga, you can chek him in the credits :)

@danga Thank you for your words :) But yeah we didn't use the theme to its potential unfortunately, hopefully we will do it better on other occasions. The game is rather difficult as a die and retry, patience and perseverance!

@squirmonkey Thank you for your nice word :) Yes it's a bit difficult sorry about that, but you know nothing comes easy! :)

@josh-mcmillan Thank you for your nice words! Actually it's rather just a 1 day job rather than "splendid work" you are being too nice! :D But we are flattered if you already have fun playing it, thank you for that and posting a comment.

@rafa-braga We are good thank you! Hopefully you too! Thanks for your nice words and your recommandations. We will see what people think about it and well if there is room for improvement we will walways do it! Thank you for having playing it!

I like the concept, and I think you pulled it off quite well! I do think that you lose energy too quickly and makes it really hard to reach places (or maybe I just suck). Great work!

Nice game and nice level design. I feel like the audio is a bit too harsh but other than that it's a good game

Surprisingly challenging lunar lander game! First off I really liked the general gamefeel. The ship felt good to control, but the vfx and sfx actually made it even better, especially the effect you produce when you recharge your batteries. How did you make that effect anyways? Was there a simple way or did you actually just make 8 particle systems spew out or something? Secondly, you are an evil level designer :). The first shocker was at level 4 when I just went full speed into the 2nd set of spikes. I started playing much more carefully after than but I liked that each level had a clear theming to it. Very solid game w a lot of content for a solo project!

It took me 3 tries to manage level 1! Am I that bad? :)
Loved the game - good job!

Nice idea ! The controls of the bot are very smooth and it is a joy to make him fly. However, I think that some levels were a bit too mean, I mean when you are almost at the ned and there are spikes everywhere and you climb carefully to avoid them and you suddenly run out of power one tile away from the end is a bit frustrating. I had a bug, when I was on level 10 I died and got back to the first level. Great game though !

Great level design, and it appeals for speedrunning. I've got a couple of glitches but overall I spent 30 minutes playing it.

You did a great job and this game was hard! Coasting into a charge at 4% like `phew` lol

Pretty chill game, and the music really fits to it. the puzzles are not too head-wrecking and I like the fact that you can keep some of your momentum to save some fuel between plugs. With that said, the link between life and currency is not really the best example here : I think (in my opinion) that trading life for fuel shouldn't be mandatory, and should be something that helps you clear your goals in exchange of a handicap, rather than something than inevitably slows down your progression and force you to refill your fuel meter.

But that's just a little complaint from me, and apart from that, that's a pretty clean job ;)
