Quiz Racing by mAnimal

[raw]
made by mAnimal for LD 41 (COMPO)

Hi guys,

I really enjoyed this LD and I m here with my Quiz Racing game. This two genres are really incompatible.

This game is something like Quiz Racing Multitasking Click-to-Move Education experience. So I hope you will have a good time with my game.

Game is created in Unity. Sprites were painted in Paint.net Audio created in FamiTracker, cut in Audacity

The game is not hard but some mouse precision is required. You can control it only with mouse. To restart level just press "Enter".

In the game you are controling a car and you are trying to collect all objectives (diamonds) and reach the finish. You can answer questions to get more speed. With wrong answer you will reset your speed to minimum.

Enjoy the game

I like the idea a lot. However, the execution could have been better. I think that answering questions should 'help' you or at least be desirable. In it's current state it isn't. Answering more than 2 questions just makes me too fast to control at a decent pace. Perhaps dividing time with the number of correct answers at the end would be more rewarding.

Also, .rar files are kind of a pain to deal with. .zip is more handy :)

Overall 3/5. Pretty good - had more potential :)

The sound effects are adorable :) I think making quiz questions speed you up was a good idea, but the objective this feeds into could be better. Something more competitive, like a race against other cars?

This is overall a good game. I especially like the idea and the music. I would have liked it better if there have been a time limit for how long you have to complete a level.

For the longest time I didn't realize how to move the car. The questions are also very... arbitrary. But with a larger question base it could be fun! It would have been nice to see a bit more of a reason to answer questions, though.

What a freaking GEM! I loved playing it. The humor, sound effects, the idea itself was sooooo good and so well executed . One thing I missed was some clearer, more appealing visuals, but knowing that you were doing everything alone yet blows my mind. Good job dude, good job.

Nice work! I also made a quiz racing game! I did the Jam though. Check it out if you're interested. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/trivia-kart

This is an interesting idea! Like other commenters, I'd like to see the speed boost be more helpful! Perhaps the level layouts could be more like race tracks than mazes. As a British person I didn't get some of the questions that were being asked! But I really enjoyed having to juggle the two sides of the game at once. Great job!

I had fun playing this game. I liked the different categories of questions. Sometimes the car driving mechanic felt a little weird, but I was able to pick up diamonds. I like the sound effects.

This was really good! I had fun answering the questions, and even learned a couple of things in the process. I feel like the weird balance between racing and answering questions sometimes made racing a bit awkward, but I still enjoyed the combination a lot. Great job!

Really nice idea, but needs polishing.
