Pretty cool idea, would have loved it if the player had more than one life though :( also, I don't know if it's just me, but it's really hard to shoot on the beat -_- but I liked it well done :)

It is really hard to shoot. That window should be opened a bit more.

That's a neat concept. Wasn't too sure if I was so much off beat or if the game had some delay or whatever. Guess I'm just really not that good at it. The art and soundtrack were pretty good :D

Pros:

Graphics were awesome. Sound was awesome. Disco ball effect on point. the spaceship 3D model was super good and the detail of the shit rotating a bit when you move sideways was great to see.

Cons:

Could have used a bit more diversity when it comes to different enemies or at least more unpredictable movement. I knew exactly when they were going to appear and how would they move.

Possible bug: when player collides with an enemy the player gets destroyed but the game continues with the score continuing to go up.

Overall a very nice game!!!

@Justin @CaldwellYSR @tay @Mordokay I agree that it is challenging to keep up the beat. I forgot to mention in the description that the start page is an input calibration tool, so try being as solid on the beat during that screen as possible! Even so, some tweaks are probably needed to make it easier.

art , soundtrack is quite good and mechanics are decent , great implementation of the theme.

I like the idea of the calibration screen being part of the game, but I'm not sure how well it works in practice. I found that as long as I kept to the beat I'd kept up during calibration I could shoot for a while, but if I lost the beat it was impossible to get it back.

Great idea, I think it needed more 'game' to it. Also it's pretty hard! Normally I'd want to have the bullets be something I react to but the character moves quite slow and the bullets are super fast. Maybe something you could've done is include a rhythm heaven type thing where there are audio cues just before the enemies fire, and then give the player a better window to move out of the way.

Once I read that the start page was the input calibration, I started finding it much easier to shoot - I'd kinda been treating it more as a "mash the A button to get the game started" page. :P

I think I managed to glitch this game. If you crash into an enemy ship, then you explode but you don't get a "Game Over" message - the game just keeps going, and you need to close and reopen it to continue. But you kinda have to deliberately crash into people to make this happen, so it's not a serious issue. And I really like the music!

I liked the idea, but found it very difficult to actually shoot on the beat. Furthermore it wasn't quite obvious to me whether there was any advantage of timing it well or whether button bashing is actually the optimal strat.

PS. Maybe you should still put in the description that the starting screen is used to calibrate, because I only found out after reading the comments.

Super neat game! ^-^ It totally had me going in a groove.
It's pretty difficult though as i get shot alot because multitasking (keeping track of the beat and dodging attacks) is not my forte, but cool stuff none the less!
Keep it up <3

Difficult game, nice soundtrack. has a few bugs you could work out, but after that, solid game
