The Power War by yetanother

[raw]
made by yetanother for LD 39 (COMPO)

Decided to make a multiplayer game this time, so there it is, it's a agar.io / papier.io style game. The backend is in python and the client is in javascript using Phaser.io

Use Arrow or WASD to move and space to shoot. Dealing damage to an enemy will drain his life and give yourself some health back.

It looks like a good game but its hard to play when theres noone there.
Also, its a bit far from the theme.
But overall a good thing to do a network game.

Adding in some generic and simple bots/ai would really help this game out, because not everyone is playing the game at once. However, seeing that it is online is pretty impressive and I would have loved to see what would have been if there were more people playing. A fight for power seems pretty interesting.

hmmmm, guess there was no one around... But I did notice a couple things. When moving forward and shooting, the origin of the bullets appears to be unaligned with the "gun". It's interesting that you can get to the edge and it cycles you to the other side, however considering the level is larger than one screen, it's confusing that that would happen. My suggestion would be either for you to cycle to the opposite side of the entire map, or to cut out the cycling altogether. Also, I was gaining points just by existing, is that right? Anyway, the movement felt good. :)

This was an interesting take on the theme. controls were loose, especially when turning. Felt like I was moving on ice. I actually got to play against someone and it wasn't half bad.

Its to bad there are no other players around. The controls seem pretty good and the graphics are nice.

Good idea, sadly not many players around. Had some weird issue, where I could do any two things at once, like move and rotate, or move and shoot, or rotate and shoot, but not all three at once. May be intended.

Good work!

Note: wasn't able to run in either Firefox or Chrome, Vivaldi saved the day, but maybe I just wasn't patient enough, as neither of the "big ones" showed any reasonable bar and Vivaldi did. Still took ages to load.
