!greetings players! this game has classic difficulty, hope the following will help:

  • hold mouse to charge and release to swing
  • aim for the invaders not for the bulletballs
  • if you hold mouse, you keep the stance (backhand / forehand), to do small adjustments
  • moving without charging (holding the mouse) adjust your stance
  • bulletballs will kill you when they hit you, whatch the 🖤🖤 top right

(sorry run out of time for some hit animations on the character)

Hope you enjoy this game, comments are hugely appreciated.

Good game! I think it needs a better feedback when you lose a life. Also the third wave seam impossible to beat: I was down to one enemy and it launches the balls and then leaves, so I culdn0t hit it

Very nice game! The graphics are amazing and the controls are real tight.

Wow, super hard. I was right to walk away from tennis. Anyway, funny concept, well executed, nice graphics!

A little slow for my taste, but definitely an interesting concept!

Difficult to play but very interesting concept. Balls could spawn a little faster :) great work! Care to review mine? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/ld41-jam-game

not sure why, but I kept moving the mouse cursor next to the racket and of course failing to aim to the invaders. Loved the style.

Absolutely loved the graphics! Reminded me of Out of This World. Great job!

I really enjoyed this, even though I couldn't get past wave 2. It was really difficult to try and hit the balls and aim at the same time, which is probably the point. One thing I will say is it would be great to have a visual indicator on the tennis player of how charged up the shot is, as it is hard to keep track of the bar way at the top left when looking at the player and the invaders. Great Job!

this was a fun game to play, nice art style

This is very fun and a cool concept. At first it is hard making sure the ball is with in range of your racket and your sight is in the proper position. I ended up just staying in one spot and learned to just get the rhythm of when a ball is near me so I could just focus on hitting enemies

I loved the graphics! I sucked at the game but that felt like my fault rather than the game's fault, which is a Very Good Thing. Very well done!

The brilliant idea, but the gameplay is quite hardcore.

TOP idea! Great retro looks! Very well suited for the two genres. The mechanics work smoothly and well. Good execution. Love how the aliens enter the scene. Good luck! Congratulations! Maybe the learning curve could be better, like pleasing the player first and then increasing the difficulty.

This genre crossover is amazing. From looking at the preview I thought this was easy. I was totally wrong! Looking at the balls, getting the timing right and aiming is very challenging (in a positive way). I had troubles getting my avatar to use the correct side, sometimes he played a backhand also the ball was clearly on the forehand side. When I died in level two, this came as a big surprise to me, a feedback would be good here.

It is a fking fun game. The idea of playing tennis with shooter is so cool. Also the combine of pixel art to get the feel of 3D is super fun too. We also make a cinematic game with pixel art.
Mind to check our game:

Man what a great idea ! And the wix between 3D and 2D works really well. But gameplay feedback is oldschool, I have a very hard time hiting the ball, I feel like there is no real "hiting the ball animation".

Like others have said really really good work with the genre crossover. I would not have expected this to work so well but it really does. 10/10!!! My only complaint is its very hard to bot watch the tenis ball and the aiming square, took me forever to kill the baddies......but i'm not really sure how you'd fix that, maybe making the baddies move less and or getting rid of the weird in/out perspective in favor of just a left/right initially. Seems like the perspective movement should be saved for a harder level.

Wow, nice one ! I understand why you have so many positive comments. Great idea and execution. I was surprised by the difficulty given by the crossover gameplay, I didn't make it through the second stage but it loved to try !

played it on my stream and got quite hooked even if i suck at these games. Overall i liked it, though the feedback could be better if you got hit. Also it took me awhile for understanding the whole aiming system ;)

Saw this game on stream. I really like it!
The Graphics are spot on, the game itself is really creative.

This is really cool! The graphics are pleasant and the gameplay is unique. I would recommend pointing the light downwards so the depth perception isn't a bit skewed, but other than that it's a great game.

Love the retro art style, but the gameplay its really tricky maybe you should give more visual feed when hitting the balls and increase the speed of the hited balls.
Nice work

Interesting mix of sprot game and space inviders. But now it's very hard to play. I have to aim with mouse and reflect with LMB - it's already blowing my sence of space. Trouble is that I can't feel the hitbox and the moment where I have to reflect the shoot.
Good idea, anyway!

The art style is fantastic, got a great retro feel to it. Concept of the game is great too, tight controls, little bit of a pain playing on a track pad though

I know I'm not the first to comment that, but the fact that we have to look at the ball and at the alien at the same time is not just hard, but uncomfortable.
Otherwise, I'm really impressed, you did a truly great job !

Really original concept! yes its a gimmick, but it actually works really well, and the visuals are really impressive. Managed to make a 3d model fit in with pixelated world of retro gaming. Took some getting used to, but the controls are actually quite tight. With some added sound or animations for getting hit by ball, it'd help a new player be aware of that mechanic. Awesome work!

Very cool game, awesome atmosphere! I like the apocalyptic mood :-)

A little background music would have been nice. A nice dark score.

The game play was pretty hard and then I died and did not know why. You probably had no time left, like always in LD :-)

Core gameplay and execution is really good! Great idea as well.

It is a bit too hard to hit the enemies when they're far away - especially when there's only one enemy left this leads to pretty slow gameplay where you're just waiting for balls. Some tuning on this and some background music and this would be super good!
