Bullet:heart:hearts is a game about cephalopods that shoot their own hearts to kill each other. (That may be a bit creepy haha)

Made for the Ludum Dare 44 Compo by:

Alberto "_beta" Mellado.

:beginner: Controls:

Move with WASD. Shoot with right click. Mute audio with Spacebarsad

:notebook: Help:

You can pick the hearts you have already shoot.

:monkey: Conclusions:

This was my 11th Ludum Dare entry, I am not a 100% happy with my entry. It was my birthday on Saturday and I didn't have much time to work on the game. The concept is kind off fun but created more problems than what I thought. I feel like I wasn't able to expand my idea. I know the game is kind of buggy, but sometimes that happens haha.

Fun little game good job for the time you had!!
Graphics are cute, and I like the style you gave to the game. I got stuck in a wall once but it was fun to test.

Happy b-day by the way :)

Really fun game! The art style and song just makes it better, I feel that a multiplayer version of it will be awesome! Thinking about it makes me smile, nice jam!

Nice looking game! I enjoyed your high risk, high reward take on the game. It really amped up the challenge and the excitement of the game. The graphics look super nice too, the japanese words are a nice touch, what made you decide to go with them?

I wish the movement was faster though. The slow movement speed took away for me the intense action of the game.

Great job overall!

I like the graphics and sling shot shooting is really fun. Music is nice, I only wish there was some sound effects to go with them.

I cannot rate the game because I haven't participated this time around, but here's some feedback:

1. The game's visuals are very distinctive and striking. I think that for a LD game it looks excellent. The one gripe I have about the aesthetic is the excessive use of peripheral colour aberration. For want of a less grandiose word, it's almost "painful".

2. I didn't enjoy that enemies can ram you and you can't do the same to them. I think the ramming would have been fine, as long as their ramming you would not remove your hearts permanently, but rather scatter them around the field, or perhaps steal them temporarily. I'm not sure about solutions to the problem, but bottom line is, I didn't dig the ramming situation.

3. I thought the Japanese theme was cute and fun.

Conclusion: All in all, an enjoyable entry, if somewhat short.

The aesthetic was excellent, however I feel the gameplay needs a little refining. You are sometimes completely ganked at the very start of a round, for instance. I also feel the player moves way too slow - if he moved a bit faster you would have tactical dodging as a possibility, but as it is now you are almost always hit by the projectiles no matter what. All that being said, the core mechanic IS engaging and very intuitive. I think this could make a great game with some additional polish!
