TECHNOCIDE by NikorasuChan

Traverse inside the artificial planet fighting through strange violent technology. Defeat the class-3-entity within the labyrinth.

TECHNOCIDE is a turn based FPS game where you have to charge and shoot. Plan your moves against your enemies, they only move when you do.

Unleash powerful attacks by charging more than once. There are 6 different fire modes to choose from, each requiring different amounts of charges.

Controls:
Arrow keys to move around
X to charge
Z to fire
1 to 6 to select fire mode
Space to skip a turn

404 on the dropbox link. I'm sad now.
I really didn't experience any problems. Everything looked great and played smoothly. The graphics as well as audio were on point - really made a nice space and mood. Then menus/UI are tight as well.
I'm glad it wasn't longer, the last level was about the right place to end it. I would say maybe there was a little bit of excess wandering, I got a little lost on maybe level 2 trying to find the exit.
It was interesting the way the AI hung back around corners. They wanted to blast me when I stepped through to initiate battle, and that made sense. But there were times where they could have pressed an advantage, but I was able to fall back past one corner and they'd sit patiently and let me recharge, heal, recharge again, and then blast them around the corner with lightning. It was definitely cool that they had this aspect, and sometimes the one that looked a bit like the alien face-hugger (2nd enemy you see) seemed to break the rule and charge me, which was awesome.
This is really well done - great entry.
Great job!
You executed the turn-based combat very well, congrats!
I really loved the game, the combination of mood, graphics and the interesting gun/charge mechanic works really well. I especially loved the shockwave gun which allowed me to kill enemies lurking around corners. The animations and sounds make shooting/killing stuff especially satisfying. (I love the animations!)
I would have loved to have a minimap (metroidvania style) that shows me where I have already been. Only thing that currently helped me to navigate was the bloodstains on the ground.
Hopefully you turn this into a full game! Best game I've played so far in LD40.
Edit: oh and I killed the end boss! :D
I would like there to be some sort of hud displaying the controls besides the tutorial though as it's not uncommon for me to not remember everything right away
Sometimes it was a bit annoying because I didn't know if I made currently some kind of progress in the labyrinth or not. I mean, I didn't know where the door is and so I'm running multiply times through the same places. But I'm impressed how much you have done in this short time. :0 The gameplay is great and also the art style. I love the tactical aspect and the atmosphere was really alien. :D
By the way, my first encounter with this red guy was short and deadly.
I guess I will play it aigain later for revenge.
The main problem I ran into where the controls. They seem needless complex. Having to swap ammo types every-time you shot was a bit annoying. It could have saved the last one you had equipped, and only let you shoot if you had the energy to do so. Rewards for exploring the map would have also been nice.
A bit less of an issue, is it's too easy to just charge up and kill everything with the ultra shot since the enemies don't really chase you, and you can kill them in one hit. My plan was usually to just charge up 6 times, shoot the ultra shot, charge up again, heal, move on. I never really felt I had to worry about my defense or health in any way.
Other then those issues, everything was done very well! The the gun effects while charging up felt good to use, and rewarding to shoot. The simple but effective lighting by proximity was a nice touch too, and really adds to the horror theme / mood (I'd recommend copying Wolf3d's effect of walls being shaded slightly darker depending on the direction too). Overall, a great entry to the dare. As stated previously, I hope your team continues working on it!
1. please allow me to move by holding the key down x.x and
2. i think it would be really interesting if you remove the "Z" key, and allow the number keys to be the trigger for the action. You could allow all of the actions to play before you can move, so for the quad shot, you could make it fire when pressed and then fire 3 more times, each consuming a turn without allowing you to take another action.
I loved the game, keep up the good work!
