Final Thoughts:

This was our first game jam that we have done as a team, and even first game jam for a few of our members-- and for a lot of us, we were learning brand new tools while designing the game. That being said, we were unable to complete the game, and have a lot of bugs and unfinished features. We didn't prioritize tasks properly and spent too much time trying to make the game look good before making a working game. So please enjoy our very stylized game, and we look forward to releasing a full game sometime in the next several months.

Game looks great. A bit buggy (I could go through some walls, sometimes randomly change levels, and had to press J multiple times) but still fun. Great job!

looks nice,I loved the visuals, but the controls was little weird sometimes. Also i didn't get it, when i can roll and when i can't. But at least sometimes I was able to roll and run faster.

Good game! Nice visuals and controls feedback.

After killing the boss, game starts from beginning? Couldn't hit anything with blue gun, but red works just fine.

@royoyo
We definitely didn't do a good job of context clues- the Blue Gun will charge your turrets, and the Red Gun will damage enemies.

Graphics and atmosphere was really good, music was good, sfx was good, there was even a boss!
But I'm not sure if I played it right as I merely stood on the enemies and they died touching me and even recharged my power, same with the boss - that was weird!

@randomphantom The enemies drop 'battery chiclets' when they die, and those chiclets restore your power once they touch you.

Unfortunately, I was having issues coding the collision boxes with the sword strikes and so the actual "hit box" for enemies is the players own hit box. If you want to make the gameplay feel more authentic, you could try just using range (bug fix immenent!)

As for the boss- when you stand in the sun spots, your power is restored per second. If you stand inside the light while fighting the spider boss, then you will continually regenerate power. Thanks for playing and commenting!

the Healing bug quite reduced the fear of the monsters but that's a cool prototype you have here :D
the animation for the melee attack could be way faster, it would feel more responsive.

I didn't understand! was those spider like creatures enemies or friends? I could gain energy by just walking through them and not shooting a single bullet.
Maybe that was just a tiny glitch. You can make a full game out of it. Hope to see the full game after LD.

The visuals and music are great. I really liked the title theme. The animations and effects are very well done. I see where you were trying to go with game play mechanics, I think if you build on this you can make this into a great game.

It is a bit hard to understand what to do. A lot of times I felt like I was just running around with no real sense of direction. Also it may help to downsize the initial maps as the player is just getting used to the game and large areas may overwhelm them. I hope to see more with this, you have got a very nice looking entry!

Ok, well it definitely has a nice style. Maybe a bit too much blur for my taste, but otherwise pretty graphics indeed! I like the idea too, and it's something that can be easily expanded upon with more weapons, enemies, loot and the like.

You don't need me to tell you that the gameplay is broken, but I find intriguing that the controls told here are different from the ones you can find in the ESC menu. Right clicking doesn't swing a sword for me, although pressing V doesn't seem to always do it either. The enemies actually seemed to regenerate your power instead of taking it which was a funny bug.

In any case, there's quite a lot of potential in this game and I really do hope you work it into a full game!

Great visuals and music!
Enemies seem to heal me and die once I touch them, which takes away from the excitement a bit.
Overall a cool game though!

Interesting game, the controls felt a bit awkward, I couldn't move and use the sword at the same time. The graphics and music fit in quite nicely giving the game a good atmosphere.

Nice game (fun watching on [Elysia Griffin's Twitch Stream] (https://www.twitch.tv/elysiagriffin). Good music, nice graphics - I'm surprised seeing Unity's flexibility and and first thought this was a GameMaker Studio 1 game! I think it has potential for expansion and updates!

I think I found an exploit (that maybe you should leave ;D) if I walk backwards the power drains very slow thus allowing me to still traverse great distances, though be at a slower speed, but at little to no cost of energy. Actually, I felt that the drain speed when moving backwards should be the regular speed ;) Had fun shooting things especially because each shot that landed felt like it really did some damage. Nice :D

In the LD build of our game, I have it purposely designed such that walking backward drains only 1/10th the power, bu also moves at 1/3rd the speed!

I am glad you appreciate the weight of the damage that is visible in this build. I am going to post a write up after the judging period of this LD to talk about some of the decisions we made, why we made them, and how we feel they impacted the user experience. In this case, I deliberated on the damage and making it feel like the right "weight" for quite a while, despite there being so few enemies implemented.

Thanks for commenting!

Nice game! I like how the glowing energy spotlight looks with the dark ambient. Shooting enemies was fun and the momentum you're falling without energy and get some was pretty cool too. Maybe a faster movement would add more fun to the recipe 👍

Really nice game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwlGq7uM8W4
