Click by Porcus_Pie

Click, a dynamic rhythm game that gets harder the better you play. There are 4 rhythm tracks, and the higher the score the more tracks are active. Each track plays a repeating pattern, and once you have a high enough score, the next track becomes avaliable to play. There are 3 songs you can play, each varying in difficulty and style. Enjoy them all!

I was busy all through the first day so unfortunately I had to make this entire game in pretty much one day only. That includes songs and etc, hence it does seem a bit rushed. For more clarification and instructions on how to play please look at the read me file in the folder. The theme fits in in that the more tracks, the harder it gets.

I got wrecked by this game, mostly. My top score was 2800 after a handful of tries on song #1. I was getting the third track going for a while and the game offered me the fourth, and my brain was like sure I guess, and it all went horribly wrong from there.
Thank goodness this game backs off when I start screwing up badly! That was so important to not being totally brainfrozen by it. I maybe would have slightly decreased the break after I dropped back down to two. Like once I had started working on the third, and then lost it, I did want it to back off and let me reset, but not to hang out there for quite so long.
This was really nicely put together. It didn't spellbind me in the amazing way that Hopper did before, but that's too much to ask, and Click's songs were fun, the dynamic challenge was cleverly designed, and the graphics were clear, effective, and nice looking. Great job!
@Eralies I must admit, Ive been wanting to try and make a music game for a while so I kinda made the theme fit the game, rather than the game fit the theme... but thank you nonetheless!
There are some things I'm missing, though: You should explain, what keys are used to play (That got me confused for a bit :D). Then I also think that some parts are off beat. And (I am not sure about this) I think that I could just always press the buttons to get a decent score, is that right? One last thing, but it's understandable, that that is missing: Show me the score while I'm playing to motivate me! :)
I missed the score while I was playing. Also, sometimes I felt that the keys were a bit random in what notes they were playing. What I mean with this is that, for examples, the two keys on the left could focus on percussion, and the two on the right could focus on the melody. What I feel is that currently, all the keys have to do with percussion, and for example, sometimes you needed to press two of them for a single drum hit just because.
Other than that, I think this is a cool entry!
Yeeee rhythm games low key my favorite game genre. The whole implementation feels pretty fine to me---honestly it would have been impressive for you to build the whole engine *and* compose all three songs in two days, much less one IMO.
Real talk though; because the game's called "Click" my first go I tried clicking the row markers as the notes came across, thinking that the unhappy tone that played along was the "you did it!" noise lol. Always read the README!

I really like the fact that the game automatically change the difficulty in the game, with the first tracks easy, and the third and fourth harder to combine.
The music is also really nice, especially if made in one day ^^
It would really be cool to have a full-fledged post-ludum dare version :D
- It's possible to spam all buttons, because there is no punishment for pressing a button at the wrong time
- Making the movements of the blocks more smooth, (For Example: you can increase the y value of the blocks by how many pixel it should move per second divided by 30 in the step event instead of an alarm)
- to prevent the game getting offbeat you can use delta_time
- you can change the icon of the game in the global game settings
I can highly recommend you to take a look at the Game maker language as scripts are more powerful than the drag and drop mechanics.
Nevertheless this game was lot fun to play. Good Work!
But having seen some other's screenshots of insanely high scores, I have to conclude that that would not be a fair criticism. I guess I just suck at these sorts of games.
I liked the visuals a lot, but I didn't get the sense that the key presses were on beat (could be I suck at finding the beat).
Include instructions on the menu screen! Or at least in the description of your game on this page!
