The Grand Order,Ordered a Magus to make a !list of all monsters in the cavern.He ran out of paper and doesn't have space to write one more name...Kill the Shade.Its an RPG style game with only spells. The goal of this game for me was just to make a goddamn game...The last game I finished was for ludum dare 39..I also wanted to try making the graphics in illustrator and the spells came out nice but ekh the monsters...Also I think this is the my first ever game jam that I used out side resources..And some of the music isn't mine.Well thanks for playing!(if you did) 1.png

The premise seems cool, but i think the game really needs something to explains it's controls and mechanics because i didnt know what i was doing for a solid minute ^^

Grats on submitting! having the instructions in game on screen would be handy... and recognition of the play character would be a lot easier if they were contrasted from the environment more. All the purple and dark tones makes everything blend together a little too much, i think.

Nice try to make RPG in game jam! I think faster tempo of battle scene will help faster understanding for the mechanics. anyway good job :)

Gotta say, didn't really get invested in the battles, but I'm still impressed that you made an RPG game with GameMaker in such a short time! Turn based games are pretty tough to work with and design.

I felt like there wasn't much in terms of actual skill, or at least I didn't figure it out yet. I didn't know how to re-heal myself and there was no XP/money/battle drops/items to accomplish said recovery. I couldn't figure out what the difference between the attacks were, usually each enemy appears to have an attack it's weak against but to me that was just cycling through the attacks and guessing which one does the most damage. If the games attacks were clearer or more easy to interpret and there was more to the "world" part of the game (which was a bare-bones platformer), this would really be something cool!

Regardless, an RPG was a breath of fresh air, good work!

What's a good strategy for the combat? It felt like I was just slowly losing health and magic and I couldn't find a way to heal myself. It also needs to be much faster.
