Appease the Gods through battle and self sacrifice!
A simple beat'em'up with random modifies and tasks, based on the while of the Gods. Fight, pray, obtains boons and banes, and see how many of the pantheon you can honour in 60 seconds.
-Boons and Banes-
The Gods are fickle and cryptic; not every sacrifice will result in a blessing. Some will, in fact, make your fights harder and your enemies tougher! But only a fool denies a God, so maybe it's better to just rough it out...
-Fighting-
Honour the Gods through battle! Each weapon has it's own properties, but sometimes the Gods demand you kill with a specific weapon.
Sword - Medium damage, medium reach
Axe - High damage, short reach
Spear - Low damage, long reach
-Praying-
Honour the Gods with your time! Prayers take between 2 and 5 seconds, and can only be done without a weapon in hand, but you'll always gain a blessing in return!

Left/Right - Move
Up - Jump
Down -Cycles Weapons
Z - Attack/Interact

I encountered a bug at one point where I got stuck in a tile (see gif)

Perhaps the platforms would have been better if only the very top (height of 3px) was collidable, and not the whole tile.
I think the pacing would be better if enemies died quicker (so you can appease the gods even more!) but balancing issues are more personal preference.
@DougDevs @stevenjmiller @oxrock I think it's caused by swapping weapons mid-jump? Sorry it bugged out on you; I didn't have a whole lot of time left for fixing and balancing... I'll patch it as soon as I can~
I had issues with the movement though. I kept getting stuck on the ground and had to jump to get unstuck.
My first playthrough I got some bad blessings and got extra tough enemies that I had to fight with the weak spear on a completely flat map. I killed one of the dozen (?) but they filled up the screen so I just got hit till I died.
On my second playthrough I got stuck in the air like the person in the first post.
The third playthrough I got another death by spear on the second level and couldn't do enough damage to kill the enemies before being overwhelmed. Maybe the game needs some balancing? Or maybe I just suck. That is a real possibility.
The game itself is a bit boring, but looks cool :smiley:
It felt kinda weird to not be able to jump on platforms from under and the combat could use some extra feedback tho.

Otherwise, a great entry with absolutely 10/10 art. Good job!
Got some trouble in first level (stuck under the lower platform).
And the second level is so hard !

There are a couple things that bother me though: There are no sound effects, the game is hard to grasp, enemies take many many hits to die.
Still, great game, congrats!
Pretty cool game! A few sfx would have been nice tho! (simple beeps and boops would have been enough imo ^^)
You should get out there and review some games! Crazy that you've managed almost 80 reviews as of the time of me reviewing this and still haven't reviewed any yourself ;) But I guess that goes to show the power of a good thumbnail.
