Rude Bear Requiem by Alex Rose

[raw]
made by Alex Rose for LD35 (JAM)
YOU CAN PICK THINGS UP ONLY IN NORMAL BEAR FORM. (You can become normal bear at any time by transforming into the same thing twice, like pressing 1 and 1 again).

The long awaited 12th game in the Rude Bear series, and the cutest!

Play in this cute, cute world. It's really cute and that's it, no super hard bosses for once. Join Rude Bear as he helps a fellow bear out collecting trinkets, and then help him return to where he came from afterwards.

CONTROLS:
PC:

PICK THINGS UP BY WALKING INTO THEM AS NORMAL RUDE BEAR. (Which you can do by transforming into the same form twice).

Transform with 123 or XCV and use updownleftright or WASD (sorry AZERTY people, wasd is fine, not sorry DVORAK people, change your layout).. or.. use a controller!

Space/Z are used to interact/do ability.

CONTROLLER:
A use/throw or do ability in transformed mode, BXY transform, stick move.

Without having played all of the Rude Bear games, this is my favorite of those I HAVE experienced. The music does a great job of setting the mood, too.

:0 it got weird, the music is super awesome!!! It was tough to navigate and get a hold of the controls, especially the shield seemed off. Everything felt kinda floaty, and I think I'd like it a lot more if there was more to the powers than matching them with the NPCs. Still I had a lot of fun with it :D good job yall

Great, now I have to get a priest in to exorcise my computer! Be aware that I will be sending you the bill...

Aside from the inconvenience of having my hard drive possessed, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Fantastic visuals, sound and atmosphere. Neat control scheme. Awesome twist. Hail!

Wow, really really good. I love a game with a twist and yours was very satisfying. I love the crass contrast and especially that you get to run around in the nice world and see what you have done. The music really works in favor of the game.

The only room for improvement I have is that the balloon form could use a shadow to indicate that we are actually flying up. Other than that a great entry and one of the most memorable games so far.

The wobble walk was a nice way to bring character to the simple animations and worked really well. Liked the music and visuals and the simple puzzle aspects between the changes and characters needs was well done. That poor cat stuck in the tree.

Thanks to the first comment, the plot twist has been ruined for me. The premise was interesting, and the music is great. The animation has a certain charm to it, and it was clear a lot of anti-frustrating measures were added in to create a streamlined experience. Overall, had a pleasant experience.

Due to the lack of variety in the world's visuals, it's easy to get lost in the game. I feel like the game could have used a bit more sound effects, such as the rain sound. The camera is also completely out of wack. It was hard to focus on any single element because the super-quick camera attempting to follow the direction where you're going vs. what you actually want to focus on.

It's also a pet peeve of mine that the game is basically a fetch quest with a few escort missions thrown in (not a fan of either of those). The latter half did a better job of adding gameplay variety, and I was a fan of the after-story when the other personality subsides.
