LavaLuva Title.PNG Manage a small town of villagers, sacrificing people to appease the volcano gods and buy yourself a little more time.

-Click a building then click in the world to place it. Try starting with one of each!

-Click and drag a person to a farm, quarry, or lumber mill to assign them to work there.

-Make sure to place quarries within a few tiles of stone and wood you want them to gather.

-Watch the anger bar at the top; if it grows too high, it's time to drag someone to the volcano and drop them in! Someone will replace them... eventually. LavaLuva Screen1.PNG LavaLuva Screen3.PNG

Cool little management game. Controls and workflow are really well done (your UI is about 200% more legible than most LD games). There are a couple easy ways to totally screw yourself, but overall this is a really good submission.

The screen is only black for me under the menu and red bar. No sounds or anything either. Using an updated windows chrome, if that helps.

@scarfdev there's no audio in the game - did you see the menu? I don't know of any red bar until the game starts proper - which sounds like the game itself loads but maybe not the level once you hit "play"? Any chance of a screenshot, or chrome console logs if you know how to provide those?

@mcovert https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/345362132654620672/519006753032110081/unknown.png the red bar fills up slowly, so I assume this is the game, just nothing underneath the menu appears. No clue how to get the console logs, sorry.

Good job. Had fun beating this. Would be great to see you consider expanding this in the future to update the art and add new levels. Only complaint is that I don't understand the timers on when people move into their homes, some homes are a lot faster than others, not sure why.

@scarfdev very strange - you should see the level geometry itself there. I'm not sure what's wrong! I've added a windows download to the itch.io page if you want to try that instead.

I like the simple tiled look of the world. I feel like the simple tile aesthetic gives a lot of room to expand something like this mechanically!

It's hard to make a game like this in a game jam because it can be really tricky to properly balance things. This game does it quite well! Great job!

That was fun. I liked the isometric and simplistic anesthetic.

It lacks sound however, and it was a lil too easy.

Good job though, a nice solid simple entry.

Is it just me, or is this game impossible?
I've played the HTML5 version on itch.io, and I cannot progress no matter how i start out? Is the rate at which you gather stuff bugged?
I'll hold off rating if that's the case.

Believe me when I tell you this, you won't like the volcano gods when they're angry! Holy cow, they really start spewing! Oh, it looks like this the first LD for all of you. Congratulations on mashing together something that works on your first outting! :)

Cool game that nails the theme! Some comments:

- There is often downtime. I was wishing I could actively build followers rather than just waiting.
- It's hard to find where your followers are, especially if they're behind something.
- I like the lava swamping the level as the game goes on. This could be accelerated greatly with mechanics introduced to combat it.
- Music and SFX! Anything is better than nothing.

04. Dec 2018 · 13:05 UTC
I like the concept, but it lacks balance. As long as you don't let the anger bar go all the way up, the game basically plays itself, but otherwise the volcano fucks everything up in seconds, it'd be good to have varying degrees of fuck ups I suppose. It's too bad there no sound too, it could really have improved the whole vibe, which I thought was rather on point with the theme! The graphics could probably benefit with some sort of ambient occlusion, to further the "small model" style. Overall pretty good, congrats on shipping :)

It took me a while to get the hang of it so I was really confused by the people saying it's very easy! Then, once the economy picked up, it did get easy, but the start is equally easy to mess up. One thing I didn't enjoy was waiting for people to appear (and searching for them), but other than that it's been really fun and I replayed it several times! If there were sound effects, I would mostly appreciate a sound for lava destroying something (building/disabling a production) and for new people appearing. :)

Great job! I have "plug it") Special thanks for the html5 version.

It pretty polished have a nice cover image. What is really rare situation when you have only few days.
I agree about sound - anything is much better then nothing(
It fit theme enough, not so deep interpretation but on this case it's simple, easy to got and play!

I hope to play it on mobile, there is no games like it,.. ( All of them are more like idle rather then menagment.
Good luck ;)

04. Dec 2018 · 16:05 UTC
I love this !

First, the graphics and the isometric view really a good point. I like the overall lights and color choice here.

There is a how to play in the game, which is nice, not every game has one (we don't, and it's a shame.)

I guess it lacks a bit of feedback. Like, how can I see how much villagers will be generated ? It's over time, but, hard to plan things without it. And no sounds at all ! Or maybe my browser or something.

It was a bit easy, but hey, bettre that than a game too hard

Theme is respected, everything is good.

Nice idea, but it is not properly balanced, you just need to spam the houses. Also is kinda wreid that all the accions can be made using the mouse and to move the camera the WASD.
The rest is quite good.

Cool idea and execution, missing sound of course but otherwise awesome! I did get stuck though, after some time no more people spawned at my houses (not even newly built ones). Perhaps a bug, after I accidentally demolished a house?

04. Dec 2018 · 21:52 UTC
Bit more complexity or challenge could've benefited the game, but it's pretty solid for a few days of work. Maybe more random lava drops but with pre-warning so that you could evacuate the people out of the way? Lava could also solidify slowly into fertile land for example.

I liked the clarity of the graphics, simple controls. Good though not very surprising use of the theme.

I was ready to give up after 5 tries. But I finally plugged the volcano.
I determined the rate at which Houses spawn humans is random. And you can potentially get screwed.
(correct me if im wrong)

I love the concept, but the spawn rate of houses can potentially kill an attempt.

06. Dec 2018 · 09:52 UTC
I like the graphics, and gameplay is good but a bit easy.

The game could really benefit some music/sound. And maybe you should introduce a mechanic to balance the fact that having a big population bring so much resources. I had maybe 15 villagers and resources kept coming in faster than I could spend them. Maybe more villagers should consume more resources, or maybe the cost of buildings should increase with population...

Anyway, great job on making this game! I enjoyed playing it :-)

Good job on the execution of this idea. As soon as I figured out that sacrificing people was core to moving forward things felt less hectic which was fantastic. This seems to be echoed quite frequently above but having a timer on when a new citizen is available would be a huge boon to this project. Thank you for sharing your work!!

Overall I enjoyed the game, it simple and fun game. I played your game a lot of times trying to beat it XD. I think the volcano grows really fast the only way I found to win is to put every think on quarries. If the volcano moved slower the player would have more time to explore the game and would be beneficial in the end. I love that the volcano destroyed building randomly, it had a nice random effect on the game. The graphics are really cool ;)

Pretty enjoyable but eventually figured it out. It looks like I got stuck at one point. I had a bunch of houses, and only one quarry left, but I didn't have enough wood to build any other buildings, so it was a rush against time to get to the 1000 stone.

It seems strange that the Food is only used for houses and not for other things and that the people can't collect resources without the processing plants, but it was fun, all in all!

Nice looking game and gameplay experience. I wish you take the time to polish it into a proper game (I'd pay a few bucks for it!).
