This game is amazing!
there are so many good things to say about it.
the idea is brilliant and was executed perfectly, the real time chess attacks are so cool. The art is charming and there's a boatload of it. There are a whole bunch of great game design instances, notably the training dummies with other pawns, that taught me instantly how to play. The game was challenging and fun, so well done guys!

Wow! Really great concept. You successfully combined one of my favorite board games with one of my favorite PC games. It takes some time to get used to the character hitboxes and attack ranges, but i think that's a part of every "souls" game.

So good!I agree with everything Death_is_Cold said. Love the progression and how easy it was to "get" quickly.

Really a fantastic work! I had a lot of fun and almost get addicted to it. Great graphic works and interesting animations. Chess jumping is sooo cute!
And I understand what "Souls-like" means soon because I died hundred times without getting a key lol, it's difficult to predict where and when to attack and I failed to reach. Eager to know where is the key and boss!!
BTW I found the character unable to move for three times, I didn't do anything but jump around before that...

This is one of those games that makes you say "WHY DIDN'T I THOUGHT OF THIS?!"

In other words, the game is brilliant and the execution is pretty good. Excelent job! I would love to see a full release of this.

I beat it. And LOVED it. The ending was great. I would play a sequel if you made it.

Getting use to the attacks of the pawn was the hardest to overcome. But after that smooth sailing.

Great game!

This was so insanely good. I had 0 expectations and loved the art, sound, pacing, and mechanics. The theme and execution felt spot on. I just had fun popping around and killing the enemies. It felt so rewarding.

This is really really good! Didn't even realize you could attack until the second go. It was all really well done, and the music was solid. Great job!

5 stars, man, 5 stars.
This is great, marvelous. It's incredible.
I would definitely tweak some design choices, like the lack of info about controls and having the first enemy be a pawn. (I mean, it's not wrong, but it's the same kind of attack you have, and makes the combat tedious)
Anyways, besides that, great game, great mood, great character design and great job :)
I'll follow you, I need to see more of this game

This is crazy good!!!! The hardest part was getting used to attacking at angles, but just like chess, pawn's can be deceptively strong. I would have loved to pick which piece i could play as at the beginning - something worth adding in the future - being a rook would have been fun (IE ranged attack)

Great work!!!!!!

That's really good, feels like an old snes or amiga game already.Lovely level of polish on music and art, it's tricky enough though. Good job!

I have exactly one complaint, which is that occasionally two enemy pieces would get stuck when trying to move to the same square and then be unable to attack and move. Other then that, this was amazing! I have no idea what I would add besides maybe mixing and matching enemy pieces some more, like a challenge level where you fight an entire setup of 16 pieces or something. Best entry so far!

Amazing game. 5 stars all around.

There is one thing that you could improve to make the game feel much better: the controls and attacks. I think the game would play a lot better if you were locked to the grid like the enemies are. As it is, it's kind of difficult to align yourself with enemies, or properly avoid their attacks.

Really hard, but once you get the hang of it there begins a rewarding factor which made me play this for a good extra hour or so. I will have to come back to this one to beat it as others are already way ahead of the game! Good job/fantastic concept!

Graphics look very professional. Audio is juicy. Controlling and attacking feels a bit off, but thats maybe because it has to be this way mechanically. Player attack doesn't seem to be that attached to the front grid as much as the enemies. I often attacked beyond the front tiles gaining advantage over enemies. I would also prefer attack button be more intuitive, like space instead of Z. Maybe add WASD movement also. This would make controlling whole game with just left hand plausible.

I like the royal look of the environment and adventure for glory. Music complements this nicely. Maybe music could get more battle oriented once player leaves the castle? I would like the pawn to advance the chess hierarchy to more powerful units and eventually become a king? It's Rogue Pawn, so pawn going rogue and becoming his own king would be fun. :fist:

There is lot of potential here for the future. Don't know about the fit price you're asking about, that depends on the production quality of the final product. 5€ could be right..

Amazing game, I love the graphics, its looks polished and I like the style. I like the chess attack patterns, it is really cool concept. It's a bit hard for me though, lol. But I will give it a better try later. Only thing to complain is that you get snaped sometimes to grid while attacking and this will place you under enemy attack, but I can live with that.

Apparently chess-souls is [a genre now](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/mare-underworld)? I'm yet to play either one, but your graphics look pretty cool.

Oh man what a game! The combat is a bit wonky and awkward, but still engaging. The way the shop works kinda screwed me over when I wasted all the health early on, and literally relied on the armor from the upgrades to keep me alive. Then I found myself exploiting the AI more and more until I managed to win the game. Also, fighting the queen with 1 hp is scary af!

Great entry overall, especially the innovation and art!

Great job! This is one of the more creative entries I've seen so far. Wasn't able to beat any of the bosses, but I'm going to come back and get all of those keys! 5/5 rating from me!!

Really good job!
It looks great and the chess theme was beautifully developed.
Rougelikeness was in a realtime-roguelite way, more like a topdown adventure game than a roguelike but that's not a rating category.
Congratulations!
