Dawning by Ludipe

[raw]
made by Ludipe for LD35 (JAM)
----

Dawning: Shape a new land and build a sustainable place to live in!

World-builder card-based game. Drag tiles to the grid to place them. Each type of tile has different placement restrictions and effects. Fill the board to end the game. Some advanced rules are included in the game.

----

Hints: Use your mouse for pretty much everything. Right click to zoom in/out and "R" to reset.

READ ME!: If playing from this page clicking fullscreen before leaving the menu will glitch it

Note: We ended up with just 12h to work on our Ludum Dare entry, so "Dawning" is probably way far from being well-balanced. Still had lots of fun working on it :-)

A really well-made game, graphics/sounds really stunning.
I personally had a little bug that prevent me to finish the game (Zoom in-out) outside of the window in Web app.
But a really good work!

Relaxing and interesting puzzly game. I had a problem with the grid not being centered, the top left area seems to be always outside the screen in the Web build (Chrome on Windows, 1920x1080 maximized window)

The gameplay and music make this game absolutely captivating. A few bugs here and there, but otherwise a great and soothing game to experience.

Nice! Lovely graphics and simple, relaxing gameplay. I ended up playing it without being too concerned about the score, but it was still nice. Not sure what was the use for zooming in.

I think it will be great if you will work on this concept and it'll evolve in a full game.

Fascinating game. I love it. The concept reminds me of Sim Earth.

Relaxing game, and interesting gameplay concept. It's a shame you don't have more time for making the game!

I liked the atmosphere! I was able to play the game the first time but once I zoomed it unzoomed wrongly and couldnt play anymore.

I love the relaxing pace of this game. I couldn't complete it because the uncentered grid bug I enjoyed the game as long as I could play it. Not bad at all for 12h :).

I really liked this game, every decision had an impact and sound effect to reinforce your decision. The graphics seem nice and fitting as well. While a simple concept, it was very well done. @bytedesigning / ashley

Getting 2 fires 2 turns before the last tile placement can really undo a lot of stuff, and there's not really any time to do anything or for the land to recover from that no matter how well surrounded it is by water.

But as you said, you only had a short time to work on it so bugs and balance issues are expected :) It's very impressive for 12 hours!

I love the concept, though! Very relaxing. Keep working on this, it's got potential! Nice work, thanks for sharing it. :)

Very nice, and astounding for 12 hours!
I found it quite addictive, but also very random. The only rule for when fires should break out seemed to be 'whenever it looks like I'm doing well'. A lovely game though. Would very much like to see how this would play once you've had more time to work on it.

The fire, the fire... T_T

Very interesting idea, and it's especially merit-worthy with so little development time. Great job!!

It's a really polished game for a 12h entry. Very relaxing and straightforward.

But I couldn't figure out a good strategy before I was deep into the game. At first I tried to replicate a realistic landscape, but I doesn't seem to be the best approach :P

So we can include also your game in the video ;)
