[raw]
made by Mowztouch for LD 42 (JAM)

3rd jam completed. Woooooooooh. I never tried to make simulation games before. So This is a simulation of control of world surpopulation, as, you know, we're running out of space. You can use all kinds of tools: prevention, mass sterilisation, drugs, chemicals... usual stuff. I hope you'll like. No sound so keep your playlist active :)

Cover1.png

MoveCamera : wasd / arrows. Begin by investing in Research (bottom left). The more you invest, the faster your level grows. These levels are required to unlock new tools. When you select a country, a HUD appears, all the unlocked tools will be displayed. Click Launch button to begin. Advanced levels tools are far more effective than the first one, as you can imagine :)

Year 2050, Humanity enters a crictical phase. Natural ressources are being depleted, and the consequencies of the global Warming are visibles. World population still grows. The more they are, the faster the end will come. Your new job is consists in resolving the problem of surpopulation. You’ll have all the usual tools. Don’t forget, we work for their own good. We regulate their developpement. And that’s good for everyone. This planet is sick with so much humans. We Are The Antidote!

If you got lags with web build, try the Win build ;) So far i did not found out the cause, as i did not managed to reprocduce it inside Unity.

Thanks for playing! Leave a comment, i'll play your game ;)

Really interesting game, very innovative. It got a little laggy as so many humans spawned, but really cool concept

I didn't understood how to play at first.
You should make a clean design for UI, the interface is a bit saturated.
Good concept and nice sense of humor tho.

Omg, this was an idea we had at the start but we went a different direction! lol That being said, some things you might want to address are listed below.
1. Capital was very buggy, several times I had negative value or NaN, and I could even still buy things.
2. The way you launch "projects" isn't explained very well, and it took me a bit to realize I needed to select and item to do anything.
3. The UI is VERY cluttered, I had a very hard time keeping track of what was going on and many things didn't even seem important, a less patient player would just quit and move on.
Great Idea though!

Really stunning graphics! I love the UI and the futuristic concept. I wish the concepts were introduced a bit more gradually though, it felt overwhelming at first. Nice work!

Cool game with some amazing 3D graphics! I still would try to work on the UI/UX.

It is a bit hard to understand everything that's going on and it's a bit laggy but all in all a good game.

Great concept, took a lot longer than it should to understand the interface and the controls scheme could use a redesign but overall a great execution.

Really like the idea, right now the game is a bit hard to play/understand, but I think if you developed it more it could be great! And some sound would be nice of course

I like how many Americas there area

I didn't really know what to do so I clicked random buttons and I wasn't sure if anything happened. And then after a few minutes I got a message saying "Out of memory. If you are the developer of this content, try allocating more memory to your WebGL build in the WebGL player settings." Seems intriguing though!

I don't really know the goal of the game so at the end I ended up killing off everyone, but nothing happened still. Not sure I get how to play this, but I think I know what you're trying to go for, and I do like the idea.

It seems there is a bug where clicking launch without an action selected clears the population and saves the planet.

@ruimex Thnaks for the review

@gareththedestro @mutskun @ezra-lafleur Thanks for the review ! I added a win build, which won't lag.
I don't relly know what causes the lag in WebGL. seems to be linked to GarbageCollection, but I can't reproduce the bug inisde Unity. Anyway, there are still many bugs, and the code is not so clear x)

@cepeka @fizzpowmike1 @gus-the-shark @angela-k @kajetan-andrzejak @gautstafr @veilastrum Thanks for the review :) If i had more time, or if i continue the dev, i'll add some sort of tutorial mode, with basic mechanics explained steps by steps, and i'll add more visual response to the player actions.

@shane-hayes woooooh really nice spot, i didn't found out this bug x) Many others should have experimented it and should have not understood why. Thank you for the review :)

@All so far i don't know if i'll take time to continue the dev, but thanks for playing !

Well at the beggining of the jam i had an idea to create game where humanity is presented as a virus which destroys everything. But couldn't find right gameplay to fill the idea. And guess what? You did something similar. Nice job man.

A complex gameplay (or I'm a bit slow hahaha), but I found the idea very interesting, congratulations to the game!

I think this game should have a bit slower pace so you can understand what's happening and how your actions affect the game. It reminded me of Plague Inc. which I love a lot :)

Hey interesting entry Mowztouch, I was a little bit overwhelmed with the information i was introduced when I started the game but I truly felt there's something interesting happening when I see simulated worlds in any game. I pumped up my Bio/ chemicals and technology to the max hoping for something to happen but I wasn't sure if something happened. Evenetually the planet was filled with so many people my browser unity eventually froze hehe. Interesting entry Mowztouch, as i enjoy simulated worlds I can say there's not enough of these games in the market if you're planning to develop further. Nice work!

yeah I agree with @t8kk on the overwhelming UI when you first log in. I felt like all I wanted to do was kill people off instead of making them happy, the idea is real interesting but it seemed like more than anything the point of the game was trying to trim off the population.

@risist i'm glad you enjoyed :)

@diego-manarim Thank you! yeah if i continue the dev, i'll add some step by step tutorial :)

@roman-petrov Haha i did'nt heard about Plague Inc. I'm gonna try it :) Thank you! Of course, if i continue the dev, i'll add some tutorial.

@t8kk Great thank you for your review :) It makes me want to continue the dev, i'll try Plague Inc. as it seems to be a pretty fun world sim :)
So far, the more you evolve your researches, the more weapons you have to control the population when selecting a country.
But, so far nothing is really balanced x)

@barondzines Thank you for the review, yeah, the main goal is to control surpopulation by any way possible. If i continue the dev, i'll add some step by step tutorial to get used with the UI.

Pretty cool idea. Bit laggy with so many people. Felt a little too quick, I could not tell if what I was doing was having an affect. before I new it I had lost.

Wasn't quite clear what I was doing just launched everything and then nothing seemed to happen. The graphics were really nice especially the planet however the UI background needed to be less transparent so it was clearer.

The interface is a bit messy and it felt way too fast. I'd slow it down and maybe make it turn based? Theres the premise of a really engaging game though definitely :)

Interesting idea! Graphics are nice, but I feel that everything would feel even better if there was a sound, but I understand that you didn't have the time to add it! Also there were some occasional stutters! Other than that, really good entry! Keep up the good work! :smile:

This game has some potential. I think the UI is cluttered in its current iteration. With a little bit of tweaking it could be amazing just by simplifying down some of the details.

I also noticed the WebGL build gets very slow as more and more humans spawn in, although i found the windows version to be just fine.

I agree that the UI is a bit cluttered and there was no clear goal or tutorial. I would definitely consider a revamp of the intro and how players get into and interact with the game. I did also get some lag, but I used the HTML version. I would consider optimizing or removing this option. I usually add an export type toggle so the game can detect if it is in HTML, Windows, or Mac format. You can then use this when rendering graphics or other content, may help manage the resources.

Nice game tho the transparent UI with the stars in the background was quite hard to read.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going to be thrown off the planet because of the large number of people I see around. His game is a bit complex to master and understand, but it made me feel suffocated like when I take the subway. Good luck!
