It's just an amazing game ! Love the graphics, the story, the gameplay ! The level design is huge ! And the music is just so cool ! Maybe check the default keybinding with a keyboard (but you specified that it must be played with a joystic so it's ok =P)

Very innovative take on the theme. I really enjoyed the gameplay and the nice graphics!
In my opinion the controls could have been improved by not choosing a line of keys but rather keys which are closer to each other. But it's not really that big of an issue. Overall it's still a great entry!

OK. WOW. I'm impressed for real... This is my favorite game so far, low-res pixel-art is my favorite and you pulled it off so well. The hook mechanic was so satisfying to use. You deserve to get an outstanding rating. Good luck and I really hope to see you in the next jam. Have a nice day // @dudum-lare from @liquidbrain

I loved the game design of each level, it gives a lot of freedom to the player. Sometimes its a little hard to see where to go or how.

Many thanks for all the comments and feedback! Keyboard controls seem to be a common issue, maybe we should upload a version with control remapping so it's more comfortable to use without a gamepad.

@dudum-lare @lerpish many thanks for sharing with us the sacrifice order, it's really cool to get to know how people made their progress

not bad at all actually! Loved the details and the work into the level. It is not easy to play it because you have so many things to take into account but still quite a great little entry. Well done :)

I mentioned in some comment that I'm not particularly fond of removing or limiting player abilities/powers. Oh boy, is this game proving that it can work amazingly well! The artwork is cute as heck, the ambient sound goes with it really nicely a the core gameplay loop is really appealing.

I have minor quibbles about it, though. The main would be the hook, which just feels iffy. I did another run just to focus on it and it mostly felt like cheesing the game with collision artifacts.

![2018-12-04 21_30_52-Alpaca's Redemption.png](///raw/7f2/3/z/1eddd.png)

My only other gripes are the collisions and the inability to restart and/or quit the game (after finishing it) and better yet, resetting levels. The 2 are slightly linked as in my first run I got screwed over by a collision (got pushed down by the rightmost red platform in the screenshot) and I had to restart.
![2018-12-04 21_07_34-Alpaca's Redemption by Oceanosaurus.png](///raw/7f2/3/z/1ede1.png)

Also, on one of the levels I clipped through a platform, but that was just funny more than anything else and maybe even a secret ability of the protagonist

I really hope someone speedruns it. I'd love to see the optimal strats...

Simply put, this's my favourite entry so far. :two_hearts:

The level design behind this game is incredible, I mean, you really took into account most (if not all) possible solutions to build the levels so the player can solve them according to their non-sacrificed skills. Really worth the time investment to get to the end of the game, it even has a touch of humour as a cherry on top of the cake. This is the one I enjoyed the most of all I have been playing so far, congratulations!

My sacrifice order was:
Hook -> Climb Walls -> Gravity Change -> Dash -> Jump

I guess I was loyal to the traditional jump hahah

Lovely game! I kind of liked everything about this game! I really like your graphics. The tiny feet animation, the cute lama, the nice tile sets you used! ;) Also the levels were very nicely made. Just the right kind of riddles. And we did a platformer with riddles two game jams ago and we kind of failed at that, so I congratulate on findings this kind of balance!

After the last level I wanted to try if it were possible to do all the levels with no ability. Sadly already at level 2, it is not working. I would have actually liked it, if it were possible but just really implausible and difficult...^^ (but maybe it would also make it too easy with the abilities?!?)

Only thing that annoyed me a bit was the collision. As somebody already mentioned, I also died sometimes because of platforms moving through me and then pushing me to my death...

@arnau: I got rid of the jump as the first thing. :D I mean if you have all these amazing abilities who needs to jump?

What an accomplishment- I've the idea of taking powers from the player in a few other places this jam but none have executed it as well as you guys. This idea has a couple of design issues that are difficult to resolve. One is what others have mentioned- how to design levels that can be traversed in a number of different ways. That alone is some really good level design, but what I think is even better is how you've taken something which could be draining for the player (removing their abilities and thus agency) and made something positive by allowing them to choose/gamble with how they'll play the next level, essentially making them authors of their own fate.

Great stuff.

The alpaca ascending to the realm of alpaca warriors could have been op. Overall, a very nice game from experienced people. The alpaca sure was a mighty warrior with that fantastic skillset. Glory to alpacas.

Well, I just learned never to trust Alpaca Gods again. This was a really nice and polished platformer, and the way you give-out your powers kind of mixes it in into a platformer-puzzler, having to figure out how to adapt the loss of your powers with the different elevators, spikes and platforms around the level.

I was originally worried about giving out some of the powers in a less natural in the fear that the levels would become harder without some specific power-ups, but honestly felt that all of the levels were pretty balanced and chill even when you lose all of your stuff. Levels felt just as challenging with all powers as they did with no powers. It really showcases some great level design skills! (I made a second run specifically to test that theory down, trading a different set of powers-up as I went, and found the flow to be just as great.)

The presentation was also really clean with the pixel-art being phenomenal. The controls felt tight even when playing on controller, sans for one or two issues where I suddenly dropped off a wall when climbing it. Just a minor annoyance, but nothing that deteriorated the experience in any way.

On [behalf of our team](https://twitter.com/WhalesAndGames), thank you for this alpaca-powered entry! It felt great overall and I'm glad I had a chance at playing it! :whale:

Great game, I really love the idea and playing as an alpaca. The climbing noise was super cute and the fact the each player's experience is different depending on which skill they sacrifice first is awesome.

Hurrah! This was great fun, I enjoyed it and I feel like it was the perfect length. I liked the open-ended level design.

Decided to sacrifice jump first as I felt like that would be pretty uncommon! My order was Jump, Gravity Change, Hook, Dash, Climb Walls.

Great replay value for this one too! And the alpaca is really cute :3

It's so consistently good! That's amazing. I really love almost everything about it.
Minor request would be to make levels more challenging and at first (at least literally the first one) to make people use all of the abilities. Game doesn't get challenging till you have 2 abilities left, and first 2 sacrifices I've just gotten rid of the abilities I haven't used at all (that would be gravity change and hook)

Amazing, especially about level design!
Too bad I get stuck before what seems to be the last level, by sacrificing gravity change while in reverse gravity XD
