TL;DR

Build towers by going around the platforms (multiple times for upgrades)

Finish the race before too many enemies cross the finish line

Slow and steady wins the race ;)

Note: If WebGL version lags too much, just try the windows executable

Tips

  • Be gentle with the turning and just tap it
  • Go off the throttle a lot or even brake for corners / towers
  • Try to master the first track before moving on to the second
  • Avoid the enemies at all costs or they will spin you out
  • Freeze towers early on really help
  • Some strategy in where to place which tower might be required ;)

Description

In the year 2098, there is no human no more, there are only clouds with hats. You, Cloudius McCloudster, heir to the throne, have to fight the horde of evil hats! You have no other choice but to build your death bringing Towers - by racing! Build your towers, one after another. You can build and upgrade towers by circling the tower socket. Each round you can build more towers.

With three different types of towers, you can build a "perfect" strategy to prevent the horde of evil clouds with stupid hats to finish the lap and hurt you and your reputation.

The ice tower will spin your enemies around, preventing them to be as quick as you are. The fire tower will shoot an enemy and will let him (or her!) die in agony. The tower of doom will devour the souls of a group of enemies.

The main goal is to finish the race before you run out of life(s). If an enemy passes the finish line, you will lose a life. You die when too many enemies finish the race.

Very impressive! I definitely like the racing/tower-building concept, and the graphics were impressive for a weekend jam game. The controls were a bit wonky and there wasn't much explanation for them, but that's forgivable for a jam.

The idea was cool! I found the controls super hard to use though -- but maybe that's part of the fun.

@ZaneDD @bobgar Thank you so much. Yeah the controls were a bit of a pain for us as well. Just couldn't get them to the point where we liked them, but believe me they were much worse just shortly before submitting ;) Tutorialization also had to take a back seat and got put into the description.

Controlling the player was really difficult, and I couldn't even finish the first level, but the themes mash up well together and there's a lot of potential here I think!

Nice, I completed it! Controls took a bit of getting used to, I think there needs to be some more friction, and some more acceleration, as it was quite difficult to get out of crashes and tight corners. Game looks pretty though, and I like the idea! It was really satisfying when I actually managed to pull off a flawless couple of loops around a tower to activate it! Not sure if it was just because of the practice, but I think the second level was actually easier than the first, maybe because of more towers. Also the music suited the game and was good to have in the background. Nice work! :)

Fantastic Idea, but the controls were not very good, it is hard to know if I loose because i didnt run fast enough or because the waves comes to fast, I did not run fast enough because i it really hard to go fast, aslo, good music! With more polish this could become a real good game!

The idea for this game is super good, but the controls makes the game too difficult to play. The music in the game was pretty good and the graphics was overall okay. Overall a fine LD game.

Controlling the player is too difficult and collider size is not clearly visible. It is also easy to get out of track and somewhat hard to control vehicle while out of it.

The idea is neat, level is nice and game actually plays well (once you get used to controls).

I see there is alot of Controls are too difficult and I am in the same boat. Trying to turn is a nightmare, no time for recovery if you crash into a wall.

I had fun playing it, good job. Controls were though at first but I quickly get use to them. Nice concept with clever mechanics, it surely has potential. Cute little entry you made there.

Interesting, quite hard controls and quite un-intuitive gameplay but nonetheless when you get the hang of it it's a fun little game that fits the theme quite well.

Once you get the hang of controlling your player this game starts to be fun. Really gets tough when you spin out

It took a few tries to get a feel for the controls and when you bump into something you kinda lose control, but I definitely improved after some attempts! Nice graphis by the way! And I do wonder where the idea of hats on clouds come from ;)
