MorkoV by chikun Dev Team
At the turn of the eighteenth Century the dwindling population of New Russia (itself a crumbling symbol of the failed colonial ambitions of the Russian Empire) functioned upon a subsistence economy largely fueled by the production of carrots. The ‘morkov’, or Russian carrot, is not a carrot and largely considered a weed in most of the world, but the dry tundra soils allowed few other crops to prevail. Morkov are bitter, tough vegetables with little nutrition or taste that induce vomiting in children and animals. In the 1690's a pretender known as Aleksandr Murogov (self-styled as a Tzar, although it is obvious the man had no royal connections) exploited the disillusionment with the incapable Tzar Ivan V and roamed New Russia with mercenary bands claiming he had title over the colonies. Suffice to say, it was a disaster. A rebellion led to the capitulation of the colonial administration and a complete breakdown of even the most basic agrarian systems. A carrot famine ensued in 1691 leading to the majority of the population to emigrate or die of starvation.
You are witness to the New Russian carrot famine. The winter is cold and your comrades are dead. You own the last surviving carrot farm in the entirety of the country. Only you can single-handedly restore the cogs of the agrarian machine and return food and prosperity to the people.
