Mary had some lamb to spare by blobo

[raw]
made by blobo for LD 43 (COMPO)

Mary is on a walk through the mountains with lambs. However, there's a small chance of the lambs surviving, because Mary came unarmed. Luckily, she has a bunch of sheep the throw at her enemies!

Avoid losing all of your sheep, as you can't fight enemies without them.

The levels are randomly generated.

Grab sheep with the left mouse button.Throw them by letting go.

Change what type of sheep you want to grab with the number keys, or the mousewheel.

Multiple lambs were harmed in the making of this game

how to read the screen

It's pretty simple. on the left you have your money, health, and lamb meat. on the top, you have button representing the number keys on a keyboard. these buttons have a picture of a sheep on it, and the number of remaining sheep of this type below it. The desired type of sheep to pick up will be highlighted in green. This prevents picking up your more valuable sheep if you wish to not sacrifice them. Use the number keys or the mousewheel to switch the type of sheep you wish to pick up.

This game is a bit difficult at first, heads up.

Pro Tip: Don't question whether your morals are in the right place.

Wow I really enjoy the remix of Mary had a little lamb you have for the background music. I also really enjoyed your gameplay although sometimes it seemed like I would click to through a lamb and nothing would happen untill I walked closer to an enemy which I feel made the game a little more difficult.

Great animations! The enemies were well designed with clear attack signalling and whatnot. I like that this is sort of like hardcore Pikmin. My only frustration was the throwing mechanic. I eventually figured out that you can only throw a lamb if it is quite close to you, but even then it is still frustrating to click and have nothing happen in the heat of battle. On another note, I enjoyed the variety of lambs you can buy.

Wow, the best game in this LD I played so far. Loved the Artstyle and the decent game mechanics.
Very hard and very impressive.

Best Compo Game I have played so far. I'm really impressed on what you have created in 48h.

- Love the gameplay although the throwing was a litte weird at the beginning.
- Love the different kind of sheeps and their abilities. Yellow one is my favorite. Feels like a machine gun
- The music is just awesome
- Theme 100% achieved
- Maybe some sound effects would have been nice, but I don't count that too much

Had to play it a second time even if it is quite easy, but it's just so fun to run around with an army of sheeps.

Great music remix. On the first level, I really didn't get lamb throwing mechanic and I have skipped every enemy that didn't go too well for me when I actually got what I suppose to do. I would propose to do a small tutorial level that actually requires you to use that mechanic before moving on. Also, I probably should die from being hit by the boss or am I immortal? There Is a need for restart button or some other way to sacrifice yourself when you are out of lambs :P
In general, i really like this game but it needs some polishing.

I was so happy throwing lambs till I wasn't. The boss killed every single one of it.

Love the concept, the graphics and the music.

Great work!

Loved the game! Just finished it. The concept was great, and the variety of sheeps to throw was a lot of fun to play with!

I thought that the final boss was a bit too easy compared to the others though, but other than that, I'd love to see more! :D

Somehow I wish someone told me this earlier in life.

Loved the music and the art! I liked that the enemies signaled the direction of their attack. Nothing felt too unfair. If I had to suggest a small improvement though, I think I would've liked a visual cue to show that Mary was being injured (maybe like a red flash). There were times when I played and didn't notice that I was getting damaged. Other than that, great job!

OMG! I love all your sheeps! Of course unicorn is one of the best! But honestly, I love your graphics and animations of sheeps (especially hovering ones)! Well done, I am shocked that you managed to do this during 48h! I see only one bug - quite often mouse does not proper work. But still, your game has great humor! :D

The music is catchy and the art is so adorable, the cover image drew me in immediately. All the cute sheep costumes omg! Someone else already mentioned it's a little difficult to see when Mary is hurt, but other than that the gameplay was smooth.

I love the idea of this game, but unfortunately I had a lot of trouble actually throwing sheep. Could be because I'm using a trackpad instead of a mouse. I would lover to take another crack at it though!

I found throwing the sheep somewhat troublesome, it's like no matter how you click sheep just won't fly. Otherwise I enjoyed this game and presentation, great music and idea of using sheeps as weapons.

Fun, I was able to beat it!
It took a bit to understand you had to be near your lambs to throw them.
I lost the first time around because the skeleton boss crushed all my lambs haha. But after I realized you had to watch where your lambs were to make sure they don't die needlessly and they're close enough for you to throw them the game was fun. Fast lambs for the win!
Very cool how you were able to get the different enemies in and multiple bosses. Good job!

It was really frustrating throwing the sheep, and sometimes your mouse would be right on top of the sheep and you still couldn't throw them. I had to look through the comments to see that you had to be right next to the sheep.

It took me about 10 tries to defeat the first boss. Decided to ignore the more exotic sheep in favor of the smaller ones since they seemed to die right away when the fist crushed them. It also made clicking the sheep much easier when you had 100+ little sheep. Eventually I beat the game using this strategy.

However, the graphics and music were great. It felt really well polished. I think the quality of the game was what kept me trying to finish it despite the frustrations I was having.

Nice, I enjoyed it. Art is nice and the music too, I only wish there were some sound effects (imagine all the baaaahs you could add :P). Feels pretty polished and has quite a lot of content. Great entry!

Pikmin mechanics? In my Ludum Dare? Fantastic gameplay, graphics, and sound. I didn't get very far, but the game seemed very fleshed out. Levels, shops, fun to play, this thing has it all! And a Compo game?? Fantastic work

Amazing game. I really like the graphics and the enemy AI. The game feels simple yet strategic. The handling of the attacks with the sheep being around or not was a bit uncertain and I couldn't do anything after I lost all my sheep to the second boss.

I'm really impressed ! The gameplay is actually really fun, and the loop of taking a sheep close to you, throwing it and getting it back works really well. The animations are great and the enemy variety is incredible ! Kudos to you. Great entry !

music is good! art also pretty solid. i also like the different sheeps. gameplay was ok, the combat mechanic is a bit confusing at first, but when i got it was kinda fun. the only big problem is that after collecting the key i could run all the way to the end without fighting any enemy. gj tho :^)

"Lamb".

That aside, It's a great game! Super polish, looks & flashiness are a bit lacking (and even then Its more than fine). But its just such a good Idea, its really well executed, game doesn't overstay its welcome(might even be on the short side) but I enjoyed my time with it. Its a great gameplay Idea you had, it captures the theme really well, is creative and fun. There's even some neat variety with all the sheep types. Cleared in one go! but it was close, so good job on the balance (at least, for me).

I don`t know what I expected going in, but this was really good, I was pleasantly surprised. Great job!

Great use of the theme and a fun little game overall! The only improvements I can think of are related to the controls, it would be nice to have the option to use the arrow keys in addition to WASD and maybe some other way of aiming the sheep. I did really like the dynamic of collecting gold / resources and then being able to spend it in the next town. Nicely done overall and especially impressive for a compo game :)

Aside from the control quirks that have already been mentioned, everything was great! It gave me all the good Pikmin and Sheep nostalgia feelings.

really cool game -- loved the idea and it was well execute -- the hand of god destroyed all my sheep in the second level so i could not continue -- i have to play again :)
