Very nice and hilarious concept. I loved it. It would be cool to have more levels. The music and sounds are awesome! :)

Itch.io download page made me laugh as it loaded with the freakish baby staring at you with its cold eyes. Bonus point for making me laugh even before playing the game.

"W - Umbilical Cord whip." LOL.

Loved this little game. Funny, simple but pleasing. Really really liked the little babehs movement animation. Good job!

haha! awesome game man!

Music's great too

The movement animation, the color and the umbilical cord wip reminded me of earth worm jim :P

BTW: Played on Linux using wine, no probs :D

I bet there's more to that baby than meets the eye. I'd love to see a sequel where its complicated relationship with medical staff and its mother is resolved ;)

Good entry, especially humour-wise. Cheers!

@rombus hey thank you so much! i love earth worm jim! i totally didnt even think of that when i made this, but now that you said that it reminds me of it too. thanks for the linux note too, i was curious if it worked on anything but windows.

@takusan thanks m8! funny you say that, because i didnt even have time to make an animation for the mom, so when the baby squirts out, she actually remains pregnant xD. my excuse is that she has twins and the other twin is still inside. grounds for a sequel!

Great game! However, my wife informs me that childbirth is nothing like that - but what does she know, she's not a doctor!

Love the sound effects (particularly of the possibly-not-medically-accurate birth) and the animation (as mentioned above) is great. Nice work!

Fun & hilarious game albeit short. Music was fun, graphic overall was not too good but the baby himself is loveable. The control is superb, very responsive & felt great.

This idea has much potential, I would love to see more of it!

This is a wonderful concept with adequate execution. The animation itself is very good, though I felt that the gameplay was lacking. For a Ludum Dare entry, this is tremendously understandable so don't take it too hard!

I would like to have seen a more fleshed-out combat situation, with the umbilical cord perhaps reaching a little bit higher. Also, I definitely agree with @avavt that the baby was lovable.

Would like to see this concept expanded, good entry!

Wow! That was something. The art and music were both great, and the game is hilarious.

When the game started I thought you would have to fight off bugs and stuff. I wasn't expecting the doctor.

Jumping seemed a little pointless, since it was easy enough to just stand and wait for the hands. Perhaps you could expand the game to include things to jump or climb on.

The game play is okay, but the humour is amazing. And both the music and graphic is really great for this little game. well done.

The concept is funny and reminds me of the binding of isaac. If you gave the gameplay more variety, and let you play further after escaping it could turn into a really cool game.

Well done!

STOOOP THAAAT BAAABYY :baby:

This game is pretty funny! Haha. I think variations on the doctor's attacks could have been better! Right now it's just whipping in time, which is pretty easy...

Great job!

Haha, nice idea! I love the graphics and the sounds. I blame you only one thing : that is too easy... it's could be so cool if you add difficulty (like faster doctor attacks, or obstacles, ...). But, I really enjoyed playing this game : and this is something very important.

The voice line at the beggining alone makes this worth a play :)

as for gameplay theres not much to see, but the baby feels very responsive, which in itself is a very big plus. I think without adding any new gameplay I'd have made the player hit the doctor 3ish times, or maybe in quick succession, anwyays its not like he takes a hundred hits. Music was serviceable, fits the mood. This game stands on it's concept most of all and I think that's fine, I'd say my time was well spent.

I managed to escape the hospital! hahaha.

I liked a lot the character and the enviroment. Sounds are great: "stoop that baby" and controls feels good.

It would have been cool if you had added more levels.

Cool game!

This touching game brought me back to the day of my birth and gave me a chance to relive those wonderful moments of whipping my umbilical cord at anyone who dared to get near - it was truly the first time I'd felt alive in seconds.

It'd be nice if there was a mechanic to compliment the running and jumping - if you didn't have to bite the umbilical cord and run out the room at the end, "W" would be the only key you'd need in the game.

Standout audio on this entry, with gross squishy sound effects, music, voiceover, and quality basic sounds for the jump, whip and that crunchy hit sound.

I thought the game feel of the running and jumping was pretty nice, with responsive controls and effective animation on the main character.

I had two pain points. The art of the hands and the hitbox didn't really line up, with a large visible gap between the hands where you still get hit even though it doesn't look like you ought to. Unfortunately the gameplay ultimately boiled down to judging this hit box: after failing to dodge, I eventually beat the doctor by just never moving, and timing my W keypress to just clip the hand hitbox. I never got hit that way. It was too bad that the really nice feel of the controls couldn't come through more in the best way to win. But I did play a bit with proper jump-whipping too, don't worry!

My second issue was with the retry loop, which was a little bit long after I died a few times quickly in a row as I was learning the ropes. Actually, I hit alt-enter to go fullscreen, and the game registered that as skipping the intro screen, so I went in not knowing the controls. I tried arrow keys which worked, but there up is not whip, so it actually took me a while to even realize I could whip. At first I was just trying to dodge, which got me nowhere.

Anyway, lots of solid aspects here and I had fun hop-whipping around, nice entry!

The sfx are really funny!! the music is kind of repetitive though. I feel like the core gameplay could use a boost.

01. May 2017 · 05:36 UTC
hahahaha, nice game, I only wish you would add some kind of platforming to make use of the jump mechanic,it's a shame because the controls felt solid and there was nowhere to use them
Good job nevertheless, this was fun!

Like other people have said the gameplay feels like it needs an extra dimension, but that was probably down to lack of time.
It does well in that there was is a clear concept and goal behind the game and it cleanly executes it.

"STOP THAT BABY!" Hahaha, I love it! The sound effects used in this game is really good and also the style with which this game is represented in is hilarious.

I feel like the jumping mechanic is not that useful as I get hit by the doctor more often! I prefer staying on the ground and whipping the doctor into submission! Great work, loved it! :)

### STOP

### BABEH

I really hope that's an original sound file, because that is top notch. The game was pretty easy and pretty short, but it was fun nonetheless. I was a little unsure at first, but after beating it, I determined that I loved the concept. It's certainly a unique take on the theme, and that's not a bad thing. I was disappointed at the length, but all that means is that I wanted more!

Keep it up!

04. May 2017 · 02:05 UTC
@iseeicy thank you! yes it is an original sound file, all the sounds that are recognizably computer generated (like jump and hit) were made in BFXR and all other sounds (squirt out, splat, stop that babehhh) were made with my voice. i agree it is too easy and short. hopefully i can implement more in future Ludum Dare compos. thanks for the feedback!

I've been grinning from ear-to-ear ever since firing this up! I admire your restraint in not going over-the-top gross with this concept and just letting it shine in innocent silliness.

Little too short, little too easy (kinda wish it was an infinite runner), but, man, did it make me happy.

Nice and ridiculous use of the theme. The "Stop that baby!" voice is pretty great, too. I have to agree, though, this needs to be quite a bit longer; I'd suggest making the doctor take fewer hits to drop, but then having more enemies/obstacles as you escape through the hospital; as it is, there's not even any reason to jump, ever.

That said, yes, this is pretty cute and silly, and I like that. Music was good, too.
