Change Lives by Jack Lance

Ok, ok, so like, bear with me for a second...

It's "Change Lives" like the common phrase, meaning to strongly affect people (which we hope this game does to you!)

Also like Your Life Is Currency, so you can exchange your lives in the game for other things, like literally changing lives into stuff.

But we're not even done yet. The name of the game isn't "Change Lives" like you probably thought, "Lives" actually rhymes with "Gives"! It's like "Change" like coins, like spare change, and it lives cause they're the characters in the game. Your Life Is really Currency!

And just look at that logo! The C and S are the cents and dollar signs, and the arrows in opposite directions represent exchange!

If Ludum Dare voting had just one category, and that category was title, and you only vote for your own game, we would definitely win.

Beat every level except for 5 (really wasn't sure what to do). Some of the levels were pretty clever. Feels like a physics sandbox rendition of baba is you in a lot of ways.

These are some cool and unique puzzles! Collisions were a bit jittery though, so I was able to jump my way up walls I don't think i were supposed to. I'd rate 10/10 on game title, heh.

lmao well you all definitely thought out your title very thoroughly, so props for that

I beat the entire game and I have to say, I really enjoyed playing it. It took a bit to understand the idea, but once I did, it was neat seeing all the different ways you could beat a level. Having to lose lives as part of the puzzle felt well integrated into the game and it was very satisfying to beat. I also really liked the use of the bars as a platform and, in later levels, a movable object.

In level 6, I was able to move off screen to the left, and I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, since you basically just get stuck once you go off screen. It's not a huge deal since I can restart, but given that the other levels had walls within the boundaries of the game window, it felt weird that that one level was open ended. I have to say, I really liked the solution to this level. It was really creative.

The graphics are adorable, and the palette is pleasant to look at. While it's cool that you see the tail of the coin as it moves left or right, I have to say, it didn't make a whole lot of sense why the coin would suddenly turn its back to you as you move? It's a small nitpick; I just found it quirky is all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall, I finished the game feeling satisfied that I played it. Nice job.

I am so glad I found this game! I read the title description and thought "I HAVE to play this." The concept was one of the most clever I have seen, and the levels do a great job of introducing new mechanics. I liked that level 4 misleads you into thinking you need to manipulate power to jump up from the right, when it's more of a back and forth. I also enjoyed the levels where you have to counter-intuitively get hurt as well.

Some feedback : I wish there were walking and picking up animations for your character, rather than put the animation efforts into the animated tail on the back of the coin. Both those animations can help with reading the gameplay better. The hitboxes felt a little off, and I was also able to solve several of the levels by wall-jumping unintentionally. Physics could be tweaked some more too.

Overall, great concept, well done!
