Reaper Boy LD42 (Remix) Edition by jessefreeman
Welcome to the remake of my classic Ludum Dare 40 game Reaper Boy. In this fast-paced race to escape, you'll need to use gravity to help you defeat your foes but be careful. Fall too fast, and it could prove fatal. As you crush enemies and take their souls, you'll gain the power you'll need open the portal and move onto the next world. If you die, don't worry, you can always return to the same level and keep trying.
An all-new collection of levels await you in the fully reimagined game!

Use gravity to help you defeat your enemies and power up the portal to escape!

Watch out, as time runs out you'll find it hard to see through the thick clouds!

Death is just a break, you can continue each level until you win.

Reaper Boy is a classic platformer build for the band new MonoGame powered Pixel Vision 8 Fantasy Console in 72 hours during Ludum Dare 42. In keeping with the theme, Reaper Boy is stored on two PV8 disks since it was too big to fit in a single package. For your convenience, both game disks have been bundled together below and automatically load as needed when played in the Mac, Windows or Linux executable.
Pixel Vision 8 Runner is a full development environment for authoring 8-bit games and is built on top of the open source Pixel Vision SDK framework. It contains project management, asset creation, and coding/debugging tools. This all in one solution enables complete end to end development allowing anyone to create desktop games, share them and even build custom tools. How to Play
The desktop executable of Reaper Boy supports game controllers and the keyboard. If you are playing with the keyboard, use the left and right arrows to move. You can start the game with the "A" key, and the "X" or "C" will jump.
If you want to make the game bigger, go into your executable's "Content" folder and open up the bios.json file. You can change the scale by adding the following:
"Scale": 3
PV8 supports scales from 2 - 6. If you have already run the game, you'll need to find the user-bios.json file in the local shared folder. Just modify the scale value in there.

if I had one wish was a Restart button to when I see that it's becoming impossible to complete, instead of waiting for the animations to complete.
there was a lot of this

Critique: Wish it would have told me what key to start/play, and instructions for how to play. But once figured out it was great.
Would be nice if I could select the levels instead of restarting from the first one though. Somehow when retrying after I died on level 10 the game said I have completed the game.
