Place Them All.png

You are the owner of a small planet and you must place the different tribes that are coming to live on it. You will have to choose one field per tribe. Once each tribe will be placed, they will all act the one after the other, depending on the field they have been placed on and depending on their neighbours. With a random generation of the planet set up, every game will be unique.

:checkered_flag: YOUR GOAL : Having the more surviving tribes as possible after every tribes actions, by learning their behaviour.

Results

:ballotboxwith_check: I really want to thank everyone who tried my game and left a feedback or a vote. It was my second LD participation and, looking at the feedbacks and final result, I think that I managed to create a better gaming experience than the previous one. On my first participation, I was discovering GameMaker Studio, so I chose to create a simple game, mainly focusing on graphics and mood. This time, I wanted to create something more complicated, and my limited knowledge of GameMaker Studio made me lose some precious minutes/hours, and I did not have enough time to polish the graphics and gameplay as much as I wanted. I still need to find this balance to provide both an interesting experience and nice graphics/mood, and of course speeding up my work. This will be for the next LD !

Brilliant idea! Reminds me of the Grow series, although with random generation there is more replay value. The random generation also limits the viability of certain planets, but that is the price you have to pay to the RNG gods for their help I suppose.

One thing that I don't get is why the resolution phase always starts from the same location. Couldn't it also start from the first tribe, from a player chosen tribe or always in the same tribe order?

Nonetheless I do like this a lot. Have a :smiling_imp:. It is about the only one of the tribes supported by emoji (humans don't count!).

Thanks a lot for playing @huvaakoodia !!! I had a lot of good time on the Grow series, those game were really smart and indeed, it's a bit similar ! Sure, with the RNG it will be impossible to keep all the tribes alive in some specific configurations... But when you understand the logic under each tribe it will get easier to find the optimized way to place them.

Really good idea for the start from a player chosen field, I will probably continue a bit the development to have something more polished !!! Thank you for your ideas and advices !!!

Can't we consider this one as a magician -> :santa: ?

Alright, I gave this a couple of tries and ended with 7 tribes and population of 9.
The devil destroying every living thing on the planet made me chuckle though.

I really like the pixel art and the gameplay is cool too!

cheers~

Fun idea and execution, rules are intuitive and easy to get grasp on. Neat art style and audio, gameplay is addictive and i just want to play more just to see what happens next. Really solid game and fun to play.
My top score so far is 6 tribes and 9 population

Great concept. It would be fun to be able to influence things after placement but it's really smart. I enjoyed playing it.

Really cool game! It could be a nice casual mobile game.
If you're going to continue working on it I suggest that it should be a bit longer - maybe some more days or some more advanced mechanics? Anyway, great job! :)

Cool game. I like how simple it is to play yet how complicated the gameplay can be. Sometimes you get stuck with a terrible planet but that's life I suppose! Also, bad planets give you a chance to experiment. Graphics are super, I especially like the VS animation.

A nice variation of the grow series. I enjoyed it! You immediately understand how to play. (Just a small thing: would have love having the balloons from the lower side of the world written upside down :D )

This was fun to play even though I never had a perfect run. Best was 7 tribes, 8 population. I really like the speech bubbles and interactions between the tribes!

The idea of organizing civilizations in a small world is great! I love this idea. Congratulations!!!

This was great! The trial and error approach to try to figure out the rules to how the tribes will interact with each other really works in the games favor. I just wish I didn't have to tilt my head to read the dialogue :P.

Thank you very much everyone for your kind comments and feedbacks !!! I'm really happy to see that you enjoyed playing this game !

@lepatryckduffy : Merci beaucoup !!! My best score is 8 tribes with 13 population, but in perfect conditions, I think you can go up to 15 population.

@tommyflower & @silkworm-sweatshop : Thanks a lot and, yes you are right, if I had more time, I would have add some subtitles so that we can easily read all the sentences without getting a stiff neck

@jupiter-hadley : Thank you very much for the video !!!

@gris : Thank you for the comment !!! Indeed, I did all the tribes voices with my own mouth :notes::scream: and then modified it a bit with Audacity.

I had a lot of fun playing this game. It was interesting to learn how the tribes would interact differently with each other and the resources, and try to work these behaviors to your advantage. Graphics were real nice, and the audio set the mood perfectly.

Only wish I could have brought it up to full screen. Everything was really tiny on my monitor.

Great game - Great job!

Awesome work, I kept playing to see what each tribe tended to do... it was fun to experiment! Reading upside-down text was kinda odd but wasn't distracting. I hope you expand on it... super original and fun!

Played 6 times and it was neat seeming all the combos. I would like the little text bubbles from the tribes on the bottom of the planet to have the text right-side up.

Takes some time to find a good solution for those Tribes ^^
I liked the graphics as well as the sound.
I haven't played anything in this style yet.
Like.. you make a setup and then see how it comes out.
But good work! (:

Very good game! It took me several tries but I manage to get all 8 tribes to survive (although i'm not sure why I spent so much time trying to save the devil, one would assume that would be the wrong thing to do) very minimalistic, but also good audio and graphics.

What a great and simple game! Would love to see an expanded version of this, maybe with more tribes to randomize from than spaces on the planet, in order to generate more possible unique games. The graphics were good, and the animations and actions were very well done.

Excellent idea and execution. A very good puzzle game with lots of replay value.

The interactions are fun to watch and the music brings the right kind of mood to the game and is okay to listen to. The sound effects are very good and it feels like a very polished game overall. Easy to pick and play but with lots of depth and it is very fun and rewarding figuring out which combinations of neighbours works best and which resources to give to each tribe. Overall it just feels very polished!

Well done!

Wow! That was really good! I love the short gameplay loop, like the lovechild of Reus and one of those clicky-grow games. The music and sfx was well done, and I can really see this thing becoming a mobile game with levels, powers, etcetera.

If I was to be forced to give some criticism, I would say that I'd like to see a little bit of explanation of why a race is attacking, why it succeeds or fails, and why the effects are as they are so I can learn.
