Enkid by Pythius

[raw]
made by Pythius for LD35 (JAM)
Controls:
Left and Right arrow - movement
Up arrow - jump (2nd and 3rd stage)
Z - Shoot (3rd stage)

In Enkid you take the role of a small lava creature as it journeys upwards through the volcano from wich it was born.
As it travels further and further up the creature matures into different forms, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Its fate, however, cannot be changed. But it will only be uncovered at its destination.

*Warning*
The final stage (stage 4) and the ending cutscene couldn't be done in time for this event.

Update:
We have fixed some of the glaring issues that caused the game to become unbeatable (such as missing platforms and overly aggressive enemy behaviour and placement). The old version that was originally posted can also be found in the post.
A more robust and fully realized version of the game based on this prototype will be further developed into its own thing some time in the near future.

I REALLY like the art and music of this game! The third form was a bit hard to use but I had enough fun. I look forward to seeing what you do next.

Great game, guys! It's fun and the character art in particular is great. I would like to see an expanded version with more enemies and obstacles to overcome, especially for the 1st form (not a lot of challenges you can make for a character that can't jump, but there's still place to get creative I think).

Rock on!

Quite forgiving, that and the music gave it a very relaxing mood while still stimulating. Very solid mechanics. Thought the slime was very cute and well drawn =)

Beautiful art and great animation. It really gave the creature some personality. Love the colour choices for background (blue-green) and foreground (red-yellow). Control felt good too. Think you could probably compact the second stage quite a bit, as it gets pretty repetitive basic platforming. Nice job overall.

I really liked the graphics and style, the platform game play was solid. I wish the levels were a bit shorter though, especially the 2nd.

Graphics and audio are fantastic, but I found the platforms were very, very slow! I didn't like how slow the last character was though I loved the polished feel the second stage had.
