The Real World in Real Time.
It's intentional that it is difficult to see.
Things taken from the Real World: photo from my bed room window, the character is photos of my hand, the Tweets are real time (click the #life link underneath to see the stream) and there are a lot of metaphors in the game.

Updated Feb 24th 19:24 GMT -
I've speeded the character up a little and increased the gravity. I've also reduced the amount of snow so it should run a little faster now. I've also added a couple of little mechanics... Life is deceptive. ;)

Also those Tweets are real time Tweets. They are all recent Tweets about #life. At least every 20 seconds, someone around the Real World, Tweets about #life.

19:58 GMT - Added a "chirp" sound.

10:28 GMT 25 Feb - Added music and footstep sounds, a few minor tweaks. Added Windows and Steam Workshop versions, and uploaded the source.

You should make the player move faster. Also there good be played a nice sound when collecting a tweet, perharps a bird who tweets..
I didn't really enjoy most of the twitter quotes..

Ha, that's a neat idea you devised there! The frame rate became laggard at times for me, but not by much. I think it's a decent game, but would have been better with background music.

I did update it (I had to double check!), you'll have to force refresh on the page I think or delete the cache. The updated version shows on my browser...

It was definitely an interesting game. Liked the main character. Found the background a bit too white. I assume the snow I fell through was intentional, but it reminded me of a travel commercial that is shown here (Canada) where a man falls waist-deep into snow and the travel gnome shows him how to "escape winter" by using his travel site and then gives him a sand-bucket shovel to dig himself out with.

@Smebb: In the web version there is no sound. I don't know how GameMaker handles this, but you may upload music and sounds additionally to your game.

I guess I'm to old to really like or even understand what this twitter thing is about, appears to be quite popular...
Anyway, I could't hear the sound in the web versio, either... :(

What browsers do you use? It works on Safari, Chrome and Firefox (OS X and Windows)

Nice job! The graphics are nice, the audio sets the mood along with the snow. Collecting tweets is simple and fun.

The collision was jumpy. GM can take some time to get collision down properly. Also the problem with the built in GM effect system is that it spawns the entire map, this is why you had lag issues with the snow.

If you ever need any help or advice with GM:S you can find me on Steam. I'm dasrkrain there to!
