I believe this requires Python 2.7 and Tornado. You can get Tornado at https://github.com/downloads/facebook/tornado/tornado-2.4.1.tar.gz

I thought we were only allowed to code on between the 22nd and 25th? I am new to this, how does it work?

if you want to run it locally, you can just open index.html in Firefox and run it from the local filesystem.

Chrome needs you to install a webserver; there's a Python/tornado one bundled with it.

Thats true. This is pretty much cheating. Not cool dude, not cool.

I have to say yeah it is cheating; but on the other hand nothing should have been announced before the competition was to start.

That being said I won't be starting until the theme is announced (if at all).

Folks, its a mini; we're here to have fun! If I can't get the weekend off, I'll damn well waste some evenings and enjoy myself doing it! :)

Nice work!! The globe, along with the ICBM paths, have a fantastic look to them. How did you calculate the paths? Is it by any chance related to haversine / great-circle distance?

@BrianSChung thx!

The number of short lines in the arc of the missile is determined by haversine, yes. https://github.com/williame/ludum_dare_mini_40_MAD/blob/gh-pages/game.js#L69

Then the actual positions on the arc are from quaternions. I did not try to mimic a real ballistic path or the kind of paths real ICBMs take e.g. http://w3.uwyo.edu/~jimkirk/minuteman.html

I liked the graphics and i think it fits in with the theme. It was however, not so much of a game, so i couldn't really enjoy it. Great work anyway with the webGL stuff!

Not quite sure how to run it, I'm not willing to install any more stuff just to run this game. Can't vote, sorry!

I must admit to bombing my own cities... I did not see a score or instructions so I assumed it was just a mass free for all. Lol

It looks great, but there is very little gameplay. You should make pathes not visible (or transparent) when looking at the opposite side of globe. Also sometimes missles fly to the opposite direction, crashing somewhere in the ocean.

@Martin_Monosys ...it's worth the install - I enjoyed the visual display. Surely there will be others using webGL in future entries? ...and there will be those that argue webGL is the future! (err, I'm not one of those, BTW)
