Big Space by Cosmologicon
Chrome only! Firefox doesn't seem to be able to handle a 4096x4096 canvas....
This is a game played on a 4096x4096 pixel window. Use your browser's zoom capability (Ctrl+scroll) to play effectively. You'll have to continuously zoom in to read text and see minor details, and out to see the whole map. It's not the most convenient thing in the world, but it's on purpose. That's the whole point of this Mini LD.
This is an exploration game about wide open spaces. There are 21 missions in total, but you can probably get the feel of the game just completing a few. Pilot your ships through a star system, discovering new and interesting planets. Interact with aliens who are very interested in these planets, but who are too lazy to find them themselves.
This game is different from a regular game where you're viewing a piece of a 4096x4096 game window. I made several design decisions to make sure that the "real" window size is 4096x4096. For one thing, the entire 16 megapixel canvas is rendered every frame, so I had to be as efficient as possible. Also, there's no heads-up display: all information is displayed in-place or on the game map. In theory, if your monitor was big enough, you could play the whole game without ever zooming in or scrolling.
Thanks for playing!

1.68 fps average... also it keeps juming the view away when I click. You did warn me not to use Firefox, though, so I won't hold it against you. You seem to be the only dude so far with a 4026x4026 entry!

Yeah there are a couple of issues with Firefox that make this game pretty much unplayable with it. I should probably add a browser sniff to just completely forbid it. I may do that.
