Dungeophobia by Maxr00

[raw]
made by Maxr00 for LD35 (COMPO)
Defend your treasure by stopping heroes with your small army of shapeshifting monsters.

In Dungeophobia, you control a pack of monsters that can change shape on command. Some heroes have decided to explore your dungeons to steal your treasure. Luckily, you know the fears of the heroes, and can fight them better with this knowledge. A scared hero will take twice as much damage!

-How to play-
The entire game is controlled with a mouse.
Clicking on a monster opens the UI to shift into another monster,
Clicking on a monster in that UI will change into the selected monster
Hover over heroes for an explanation of their fear/condition.

Bugs:
The buttons are a bit buggy due to some last minute changes! Sorry! It seems that you need to move your mouse to the left of the button slightly! You can tell which button you are hovering over because it will turn yellow

A phobia could make a hero scared of several types of monsters, switching the monster it is fighting to a monster it is scared of will make any damage done to that hero twice as effective.

Special phobias:
Fear of new things / Fear of anything new:
When this hero is fighting a monster, shift the monster into a different type to scare the hero.

I like the concept! The buttons are a bit buggy where you have to click on the one to the left of the button you want to click on a fair few times. But this is a great idea, with a bit more work it could be something to waste a lot of time on.

Cute art and cool concept. I like how when you hover over the phobia it teaches you what it means. It takes a little trial and error to figure out what the buttons do and the buttons bounding boxes seem a little off the image sometimes. Nicely done tho!

Very very nice besides a few bugs the idea is solid and I had a blast, the phobia idea confused me at first, but I got the hang of it pretty fast. Good job

Not the best idea to package every platform in one zip file. Makes the download too large.

Fun game though, interesting concept. Nice work!

Was pretty fun. Liked the music too, but the tooltip buttons were kind of weird at times

Nice tower defense game. I think the only issue I had is I didn't always select the button I intended when shapeshifting.

Interesting concept and quite like that you included the description of all the phobis on mouse-over, nice touch.

Can see folks liking themselves some whack'a'mole games spending some time on this. Nice one.

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

Besides the buttons being a bit buggy, the game itself is pretty fun.

Nice take on the theme, the graphics are lovely but there seems to be a huge UI issue that made shapeshifting our monsters a tad hard.

Loved the art style and the idea was really cool. I think it was a bit too challenging right out of the gate. Also too bad for the buggy controls. I had wish there was a really short tutorial or instructions at the beginning to get me started.

Otherwise, great fun, quirky graphics, and clever idea!

Cool concept, button hitboxes are waaay off which made this obnoxious to play.

Funny game! It would be nice to add some feedbacks about what's happening on the battlefield (units who hit, and show when a unit is fighting a monster who is his phobia)

Tough if you don't know the phobias and have to keep looking at the people to get the meaning. Aside from the button issue it plays well.

Very innovative and fun idea! It was also quite fun to play, and really cute graphics, lthough at times it was quite challenging to see the hover over text when characters are next to each other! Also the colliders for click on characters to shapeshift are a bit off. Good job overall!
