Stockholmia by RttStudio

[raw]
made by RttStudio for LD35 (JAM)
Stockholmia is a hard slow paced, turn based, strategy game.
Where you play as a warlock trying to defend
your bride and castle from unkind knights.

P.S You can and should read all rules
and controls on our website while downloading the game!

P.S.S If you guys want, you can comment your score
(knights killed/turn survived) or send it by email,
(RoyalTeaTimeStuido@gmail.com)
I may start a sort of leader board!
I also plan on making a short video maybe to point
out some tips about the game and all.

-------------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone this is Royal Tea Time, I'm a new solo dev.
This is my first game jam ever and I really enjoyed participating.
Sadly I was really busy this week-end so out of the 72Hours
I only managed to work 19hours on this project.
I Knew I wouldn't have much time so I decided to not
make anything to complicated. I'm also mainly a
programmer so I apologize for the art and music,
I'm still proud of what I did. I learned a lot while
doing this Jam and I'll surely be participating in the next
Ludum Dare!

Nice art and animations. Couldn't get the strategy so I got swarmed. Cool game though. Always nice to see turn based games.

I felt the game was not that intuitive and commands were a little bit hard to use.

Moving all your units at once is a clever change to a turn-based abstract strategy game like this. I kinda feel like you shouldn't be able to put a hill back in the same place you took it from. I never was very successful. It's pretty hard, but maybe I never learned the strategy. Congrats on finishing. Nice work!

This is a clever and unique game, I really like the premise. I could never get any knights to turn into slimes though, that may be bugged for me, but I thought the game was still cool.

The release doesn't require .pdb files included. They weight a ton and are just for the development phase.

Oh Thank You Griz, I didn't knew that. Just removed them from the download, the file is now 10.8mb instead of 40mb.
So now the game will be more accessible to you guys.

Really nice idea. With a little polish this could actually be a great game! I liked it!

The only problem I have with it, is that it's really hard to strategize your moves. It would be great if it started out smaller.

Hope you had fun making it =)

Lots of potential

Good idea, but it gets boring after 20 turns. If you put all the mountains in the same row you can resist a lot easily. I think it would be better using less mountains. And without slimes (Just defend). Also, don't apologize about the art, it's great!

P.D: At the start I'd chosen I'm a coward because I thought you were talking about difficulty :)

So complex for a game made in 72h ^^
Well done !

A good game but... I put all the mountains on a row, and I think it's easy to survive a lot of time like that (I quit at 100 turns because it was boring :p) Moreover, I don't think it's wanted that knights move around the grid ? x'D

But, it's a very innovative concept ! :)

Thank you for the replies, The knight walking around is listed in the known issues. I'm currently working on a patch but I won't upload it until the ludum dare rating ends, since I really want people to judge what I did during the 72 hours :) Ty everyone for the comments, I'm already implementing some of your ideas in the future patch. :)

I really enjoyed the strategical ideas presented, and I wish they could be fleshed out a bit more! As it was (others have said), it felt a bit unbalanced at times, but I think it has potential overall.

Managed to have a knight going around the side, haha http://i.imgur.com/7m1f6j2.png

I didn't like the random combat. Would have been better with something more predictable imo. Fun concept though.

Nice idea and cool art. Wish you could've done more with it but I know you were busy. Good job regardless :)

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

With some balancing, and maybe some progression this could be a good game, but as it is, it gets repetitive quick, and the strategy breaks down.
My final score: 12 knights, 41 turns.

Interesting game! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/bGsPoPIYpCs

This is cool. I'm not exactly sure what to do, and I sort of forgot that the knights had to be stopped from approaching, so I lost. :) The art is really good though and the music fits.
