The Quest for the Lindworm by ZYXer

[raw]
made by ZYXer for LD35 (JAM)
YOUR QUEST:

Shapeshift until you are a Lindworm!

INSTRUCTIONS

Kill hostile mobs. They have a certain chance of dropping one of their body parts. Choose if you want to keep your current body part or shapeshift to the new one. The goal of the game is to shapeshift into a full Lindworm.

CONTROLS

Arrow keys or WASD - Moving
Space bar - Attack
M - Show Map
P - Pause

FUN FACTS

- The map is entirely procedurally generated.
- There is no sound/music because I ran out of time. Sorry :(
- The game complies with Compo rules, just that I made it in 72 hours instead of 48 hours.

POST-JAM BUGFIXES/CHANGES

- Ent arms are less overpowered
- If a mob drops a body part you already have, you don't get the shapeshift screen
- Removed collision from corpses
- Fixed graphics glitch in shapeshift screen for arms and legs
- Fixed graphics glitch of houses
- Added star animation to picked-up body parts so that they are more visible
- Lindworms are a bit harder
- You now get a victory message when you are a full Lindworm.

So far one of my favorite games of LD35! I found myself wanting to play it just to see what kinds of upgrades I could get from different monsters. It really appealed to the treasure seeker in me. Additionally, the art is fantastic and to see that you made this procedurally really blows my mind.

I loved art style, in particular the decors !

It lacked a bit of audio though

That's a really great game!

I really enjoy playing it. Procedurally generated map is awesome. Love your graphics too! Would have loved some audio with it but anyway that's a cool game!

Good job on this! :D

That was very fun. The game is balanced and it never gives you too big obstacles: you can always choose to skip a certain monster.
I liked the graphics a lot, especially going up/down slopes and rotating in 8 directions. And the different combinations of body parts can be very funny.
Great work. A game polished in every aspect.
