Spyshifting by Morgawr

[raw]
made by Morgawr for LD35 (JAM)
This is Spyshifting, our attempt at LD35.

You are a spy who can shapeshift into other people, but he has to touch them to do so.

Approach enemy guards and turn into them to fool their friends and sneak around the base.

...but be careful! Not all the guards are easily fooled, and your powers are limited. Be swift, be steadfast!

Will you be cunning enough to beat all the levels?

At first I thought It'd be a very simple maze-like game, but quickly realized that there are ever more layers of complexity and challenge. I like how new puzzle elements are introduced one by one. I also like that the vision ranges are clearly marked. I like the little animation that happens when you switch to another guard colour. I don't like the cardinality of view directions (meaning how they change without warning), but maybe that's because I'd personally prefer this to be more of a commandos-style game instead of a level learning and memorization game. Unfortunately I could not get past one of the levels - the one where two red coloured guards look into each other. I did get to the exit, but upon entering the exit, I got a "fail" sound and it restarted the level.

Bugs aside, I like the game. Pretty fun and different.
