Defend Your Glacier by Meep
My first time entering the Ludum Dare competition. It was a hard theme for me, but I managed to come up with something. =)
I'm terrible at making background music, so only the title screen has some. Used SFXr and my microphone to make the sound effects though.
You play a little penguin who starts off with a limited number of snowballs (use them wisely!), fending off snow enemies that are invading your little glacier. You can then make snowballs from the remains of defeated enemies to continue fighting and surviving. Harder enemies come out over time and such.
Instructions are in game.

anyway its a cute game with cute sounds, it jumps in difficulty pretty quick and the action controls are a tad odd, but once you get over that, its an amusing game
The game got very hard, very quick, and I didn't last long. Solidly done, though, and I liked the sounds too.
Little tip for parallax scrolling - the further back the layer is, the more slowly it should scroll - your background layers seemed to be moving faster than the foreground, which didn't quite look right
I like the ability to change ammo into health, which makes for a bit of strategy.
The parallax scrolling is a nice touch :). The instruction screens are good, sound too (though I didn't get to hear it under Wine.) With a cute upbeat music on top of that, it would be great.
I don't think this is really what the theme is supposed to be about, though.
