Graviton by someone

[raw]
made by someone for LD18 (COMPO)
Manipulate gravity to cause shapes to crash into each other.
Make sure you don't run into any of them!

The mouse controls the player.
Collide similar coloured shapes to gain a score multiplier.
Scores are saved online unless you don't give a name.
Generally click anywhere to advance the menus.

I had the game practically done in the first day, ended up spending more time playing it than coding on Sunday. Consequentially I didn't finish up until right before the deadline.

The game is written using flashpunk, which is not included with the source. You get it from flashpunk.net.

The game doesn't have a preloader so it may take a while to load, depending on your connection. Maybe I should have thought about that earlier. Oh well.

Edit: There were some minor bugs in the original, so I'm uploading a fixed version.
Edit: Moved to Draknek's server

Simple, elegant, addictive, and finished. Well done!
Perhaps there could be a little more strategy to get combos, I felt it was too difficult to maintain. Overall great job

That's fun, though at first the gameplay seems a bit random... I just keep moving in order not to die, and the circles happen to crash into another by chance. But maybe there's a better way to play :).
Also the music is way too loud.

Sorry. We crashed your server. Do you have a mirror of this game anywhere?

If your game proves to be really good, I may spare some bandwidth to mirror it :P

Enemies don't spawn under the cursor. They spawn at least 80 pixels away, but if you are moving fast enough it may seem that way as they have to grow to their full size.

Wow, nice work! My favorite of the games I've tried so far. Music is WAY too loud and grating, though, and I died a lot when enemies spawned too close (seems pretty much impossible to avoid them). Other than that, brilliant, beautiful game. And looks like both issues have been addressed in the fixed version (but voting on original).

I think this was my favorite entry so far. Simpler is often better. I really liked the effects. Reminds me of Geometry Wars.

I thought the combo system was too hard to work with. I could maybe match colors for the first few enemies, but then I just started getting too much collateral to be able to work with it. A regular time-based combo system might be more fun.

It was also annoying when an enemy would spawn right in front of me, killing me instantly. Maybe if the enemies only spawned on the edges of the screen? That way you'd know you were taking a risk if you moved there. I actually died right when I started a couple of times.

very addicting ... great simple graphics. The effects were nice, but I'd like to see powerups or different kinds of enemies ... unless you did add those and I just never lasted long enough to see them.

The music was very fitting, but ultimately grated as it had a short loop.

Very fun game. Reminds me a lot of the mechanics I used on my entry. Dug the pixel explosions and sound effects. How did you get such a great explosion sound? It didn't sound like SFXR! :D The combo system is only good now and then because there are just too many enemies to really control it much so it acts as more of a random luck thing. Played this a bunch though--great job.

One of my favorite games of this LD. Graphics are simple, but the visual effects are very nice and advanced. One of the entries where someone actually had time to add music and make it sound good :) Could use an in-game info screen as well perhaps, though the game is pretty intuitive and the instructions are shown on the page.
