this is what i believe is the second non flixel/flashpunk flash game i've encountered. this is how you make a flash game, and any use of those two libraries should be banned and those intending on using them should retrain because this is how you do flash and those are not.
apparently the music wasn't done within the time period but i'm going to vote as if it was in the hope that this gets points dropped if it wasn't
yes, there is such thing as boss rush but nobody really pulls it off, this does it quite well
far out this game is fun and for like the first flippin' time you don't have to restart from the start every time you die
the interpretation of the theme isn't exotic but it works and it works well
nothing needs to be said on the graphics
audio... the music is quite fitting and there are sound effects
didn't pick up on any humour so N/A
overall, play this game if you've got flash (if you haven't then go pay adobe lots of money because lots of users isn't enough for them to port flash, just look at solaris vs freebsd), and this is the only flash game i've come across which is this flippin' appropriate for flash
community... well, i couldn't see your journal, it would be nice if you posted at least SOMETHING but y'know
Very fast paced and fun. Music fits, although I suppose you didn't make it.
I look into taking out the music. I kinda threw it in a couple of minutes before submitting after not sleeping for 48 hours. Shame :(
@GreaseMonkey, thanks man! It's awesome having some positive feedback. I agree with you about the flash/flixel problem: they seem to churn out games which are mostly pretty samey, and always feel like they're missing something. Plus, it's way easier animating in flash, you can knock it over in half the time.
And you're right, about the community aspect. Ludum Dare kinda caught me off guard this weekend. Ah well. Next time hey?
@Almost haha i realized you could do that AFTER i finished up with the game. I'll be sure to fix that up in a later version after the judging finishes. I'm also thinking I'll make the enemies bounce off the sides of the screen.
@Covenant. Same problem. I'm actually regretting not using a bigger window as well. Thanks for the feedback!
The third form is a bit odd in that you don't need to influence the movement of the enemies at all to get them to kill the boss.
The eyes and a mouth form is a massive difficulty spike compared to the previous forms. Among other things, the collision boxes are way too large. In the end I gave up, I would have liked to finish but it just wasn't happening.
You can move the player out of the game area which is a bit weird. Not sure if it's intentional or not.
