Fate of Mankind by LegacyCrono

[raw]
made by LegacyCrono for LD19 (COMPO)
"Fate of Mankind" is a little side-scrolling platformer game.
Your goal is simple: discover who you are. Following the traces of someone that seems to have informations, you advance through mind-bending caves collecting all the knowledge you can.

Unfortunately I had to finish the game quickly because I was running out of time. Still, it's totally playable!

Controls:
Arrow keys to move.

FIX UPDATE: I just realized that one of the discoveries were unreachable, which made it impossible to collect everything and get 100% completion. The fixed version doesn't have this problem anymore. Please play the fixed version, otherwise you won't be able to complete the game.

Really liked this. Ending drove it home. Seriously this is the best ending I've seen in a very, very long time.
..."discovered hearing" scared the crap out of me though ._.

Nice story elements, good reveal at the end which ties in the other parts. Very good use of the theme and general game construction. I like "discovering" elements that are normally taken for granted, like color. Good job.

Wow, very cool! I still need to play through it a few more times to discover everything. Great job.

Very nice! The first time I played I went straight for the jump power instead of the seeing power. This made it impossible to continue. A very strong entry, great work!

OH YES OH YES OH YES THIS GAME IS AWESOME

Innovation... I don't need to say anything about this... well actually I do because some people may have older versions of Wine and be unable to play it (Game Maker @_@). You start without being able to see and then you discover how to see and stuff like that.

Fun... This game has just inspired me to make more puzzle-platformers. I really, really liked this game.

Theme. You've hit this one on the nail.

Graphics are there and they work... and they work quite well. There's still room for improvement, but they're pretty good for what they are.

I liked the music, though it could possibly be a bit fuller. I have not penalised you for the fact that it doesn't loop properly under Wine, because that is a bug in Wine and not your game.

Humour is there, and it's fairly light-hearted. It made me smile.

But yeah, THIS GAME IS AWESOME GO PLAY IT (and if you can't, I'd be very keen to port this to or extend the idea on not-windows)

Community... Screenshots, beta tests, and even a timelapse. 5 stars.

Great, very well done. Nice story.
I love the vision powerup at the start. Can't say much else.

Running mechanic was very poor, and checkpoints were too often intentionally far away from the challenges ("walking back" should not be a game mechanic) but other than that a good game.

I really enjoyed this. The graphics are simple yet appealing, and the music went well with it. The ending was my favorite part of it. =)

Fun little game. Good execution, good concept, somewhat short on UI polish (menus etc) but the game and level design was very well done.

This came out really really well! Played it to the end. Especially liked the level design in the first couple of minutes, which is really excellent :)

Extremely impressive for 48 hours, and your first Ludum Dare!

Very nice idea! This is entertaining for quite a while. Running around the level starts to feel a bit tedious though, perhaps the dash should be more easily activated (e.g. doubletapping left/right?). Didn't play all of it since there's a nasty bug which hit me at least twice, which sometimes makes the guy just stuck to a tile and no way to move anywhere anymore (when stuck, pressing up will trigger a sound rapidly).

Very nice, I especially loved the beginning, where the discoveries came fairly rapid-fire. I found all the discoveries, but was still unable to reach certain secrets; particularly the one floating in the sky and the one guarded by 5 vertically oscillating blue squares. In any case, nice game all around. The ending, as mentioned by others, was ace. My favorite since Beacon.

Very nice! :) The minimal approach to the graphics really suited the sense of discovery, and more detail could have spoilt the vague nature of enlightenment. I wish the running had been easier to use, and that some of the checkpoints were closer together, but otherwise I had a wonderful time with this.

Pure Awesomeness. I was very sad when it ended, not just because of the disc. I want to keep playing. Reminded me of VVVVVV in a good way.

It's neat because a handful of games decided to use a similar mechanic (discovering game abilities), it's cool to see how they each handled them differently. This one was the gold standard though.

ps. theme song is stuck in my head now. Forever.

Awesome job, love the minimalist style, good pacing, best ending out of all the games I've played this LD.
