CRASH! by tmathmeyer

[raw]
made by tmathmeyer for LD21 (-)
WASD to move, C to close Menus
find all four parts of the spaceship scattered in the caves
(mine a rock ten times to get down there)
warning: this game may take very, very long to complete =P
sorry, the "win" screen is very poorly done, only had a few mins left in compo.

the only code i reused was a one liner about importing images when running an applet, because im pretty bad at that.

I can't get it to run. After title-screen everything goes white. (Tried on Windows and on Mac)

Strangely blinking menus, quite confusing controls, lack of any gameplay but diggining holes randomly (or I'm really missing something?

This seems very interesting. I like these kind of games where you are stranded on an island. Can you give some extended instructions? I mined some ore - I am sure I should melt it somehow. Tabbing out of the game gave me a black playing field.

right... so to make some things, you have to click on the item in your inventory. for example, clicking on trees makes wood, clicking on clay makes bricks, and clicking on wood makes a crafting table.
then you can make other things by using a 3x3 crafting table, like a furnace, which is eight bricks. you can also make lamps, etc, on the table. furnaces can be used to turn sand into glass and clay into tile.
the point of the game was to mine around underground and look for the four objects that finish the spaceship. then once you click on the spaceship, you win (with my crappy win screen).
because of the deadline and the fact that i dont make AWT games very often, (usually i use Swing) i wanst able to include monsters that spawn in the dark so lamps and doors were not really required.

also, what exceptions did you get?

Very reminiscent of dwarf fortress and minecraft 'escape the island' maps. I just found myself digging holes all the way down to sea level, it was a bit confusing.
