Escape the Drones by Falcon256

First time touching unity. Turned out fairly well. Added decent audio this time. Left out music as it seemed to cover up the audio cues of the player being detected. The heightmap was made in geocontrol 2 and then I threw together some textures for it.

When playing try to use the terrain to your advantage. Running like mad usually ends up with the player getting exploded off the map.(Weeee!)

The terrain is a bit over 16 square km. All of the artwork and sounds including the particle sprites were done by me this weekend. I didnt use a single premade unity item.

I havent tested the mac version but if it doesen't work give the web version a try (it is an offline html.)

Update: few hours left. Increased the "Oh Sh!t" factor a bit.
Unity has a undocumented feature where it culls a bunch of stuff when you change the FOV of a camera. Zooming will lag a lot but it is still good to use if you are not getting shot at.

There is a nice star wars feel to it,

but I didn't finish it, because the escape seemed to be really too far, and they weren't any dynamic or unexpected things to happens, plus I don't think the game is really optimized, It lag alot when zooming

The drones can call in their friends when alerted and wander around the world. I think I might have toned down the difficulty a bit too much. The goal is placed randomly each game and sometimes it can be a bit far.

I haven't been able to figure out why the lag starts when the camera's FOV changes. It has something to do with Unity.

I just walked 1300 meter without meeting a single drone in my path, only off in the distance. Also, the game lags MAJOR time when zooming in.

Since I have a bit of time left I upped the difficulty to where there is at least a challenge (blame the girlfriend playtesting and loosing for the previous difficulty(yep I just got smacked.)) I also changed how the zoom worked. might lag a bit less.

I had a hard time understanding what to do, the text in the lower left corner was only partially visible and there was no other apparent visual queue as to where to go or what to do. Besides that the game looks great! Nice to see some more 3d games as well. Cheers

Never really managed to find the sphere and the terrain didn't offer much protection, though I was probably using it wrong

Never got more than a few meters, over several attempts. I really couldn't figure out a technique for avoiding the drones. They saw me even when in a trench, and they moved so much faster than me that getting out of the way when they were heading toward where I was wasn't an option. I think I'd like it at "girlfriend difficulty" better. ;)

Other than not being able effectively play it, though, I think it has a nice ambiance and look to it. It is creepy hearing the drones coming, and makes me feel paranoid like a good stealth game should.

Never made it to the escape sphere. Kept getting pummeled by drones. Didn't seem like there was much of a way to avoid detection.

Graphics were very nice. Sound was a little thin.

Could be the start of something really good though. Nice job.

had no idea where the goal was and got surrounded by drones very quickly, i agree it has got a starwars'y feel
