Forever Running by Fenmar

[raw]
made by Fenmar for LD21 (-)
My second Ludum Dare game: Forever Running. Made with HTML5, Javascript and the Canvas element, so you probably need a browser which is up to date. Works best with Google Chrome.

Use A and D or the arrow keys to move. Press SPACE to jump. It's possible to double jump by pressing SPACE twice.

Avoid contact with enemies and run fast enough to reach the end of the level. Follow the green signs!

Due to the fact, that the canvas element is still a very young standard, there could be some browser dependend bugs. If this occurs (canvas is frozen, does not repaint, etc.) try reloading the page or use a different browser.

Have fun!

The hit boxes could be a little more forgiving. Pretty intense game!

OH MY GOD A KITTEN DISPENSER!

I gave up on the square level; it was hard. I don't like how things can kill you when you're not really that close to them, and I don't like having to click to restart the level (I'd like to be able to hit spacebar since my hand is already there.)

But I thought the first two levels were very creative and funny. The kitten dispenser and the pit of kittens were great.

I like the fast pace of the game. But gave up on the first level because I got killed a lot due to weird hit detection.

Agreed on the hitboxes, deeply unforgiving. Also the insta-death combined with lack of precognition makes this brutally hard to players that aren't also the designer.

However, despite all that I found a lot about this charming. Especially the enemies :)

A bit too repetitive, and the collision detection seemed off a little (I couldn't jump up and over a wall if I was already pressed against the side of it, not to mention everything seemed to just use strict bounding-box based collisions). But for 48 hours, it's decent.

Pretty hard. Hitboxes feel enormous (like the corners of the bounding boxes of boulders are sticking waaaay out. Also relies on some elements of precognition. Sadly couldn't play much further due to the fact level 1 seems so impossibly difficult, and I am pretty terrible at these sorts of games altogether unfortunately. Still, from the screenshots it looks like you got a lot done in the 48 hours, so kudos!

Cute constantly moving platformer. Good game, but the controls and hitboxes could be less than accurate at times.

Repetetive, boring, often requires many attempts to find out where the boulder will fall. Hit collision around the boulder seems very big, it kills me even if I'm quite distant.

As hard as I tried, I couldn't run forever.

Nice kitty.

Don't have chrome, won't install chrome, and on Firefox it doesn't clear the previous frame, so "ghosting" everyone... I'll just assume this works great on chrome, so I won't rate this game (because I can't play it well) =/
