Soul Hellscape by Rudy

Hi all, this is my first LD entry, hope you like it.

In this sandboxy game you help trapped souls by placing your "Holy Light" beam that attracts them and lets you guide them to the Gate of Hell, where they can escape. All while several types of baddies attempt to nibble on the delicious, innocent souls. You can zap them with a "Divine Lightning". Plus a few more fancy features.

game looks great :) I think it's a little inaccessible to jump straight into and start playing, there's a lot of elements presented all at once. I actually think streamlining it to just guiding light and electricity might have made it easier to make and easier to get into to play. still, well done for the complexity in there!

Help souls escape by crushing their foes with lightning and using light to lure them to the portal which will set them free.

The help screen did a decent job of explaining the goals for a 48 hour entry. If the game got expanded upon, a tutorial would be nice though.

I love this game. It's simple and it's addicting. I just spend over an hour playing it and got 374 souls. The audio is a bit painful at times though.

That's really cool! A complex, deep and yet complete sandbox game! Great job done here!
The only problem is the high resolution or too small objects. I once had at least 10 souls following my light beam, and I led them all to a Hellrose because I thought it would be the Gate of Hell. ;-) Well, clearly my mistake, but I think setting the contrast a little bit higher and zooming in would help to make this an outstanding game!

great concept. apart from being constantly out of mana, it was quite enjoyable. i'd love to see some smaller levels with less features to get used to the gameplay. great work mate

Cool concept, but poor/unbalanced mechanics. I'm waiting for mana most of the time.

May want to tone down the religious overtones, but overall a cool concept!

Well done! Needs some sort of end goal, gets too easy once you have a few structures. I spent too much time waiting for mana. You should be able to get full mana and delete all current souls or something.

I actually found the mechanics quite balanced, with mana fountains and all - I didn't really have any problems with having the right amount. I think this is a very good game for a 48h competition. Graphics are quite nice (maybe a little small, but it's not really that much of a problem), and the game feels very much complete. It's an interesting exploration of RTS genre, and quite addicting too (I spent like 45-60 mins. playing).
I feel like this is a finished product, and a really good one.

Tough to get into, but amazed at how much you did in 48 hours. :)

Wish mana regenerated a bit faster so I didn't have to wait as much. :(
