hikikomori (countable and uncountable; plural hikikomori)

1. (uncountable) The phenomenon whereby an individual becomes a recluse from society, typically confining him- or herself to the house or a single room for a very long period.
2. (countable) A reclusive person of this kind.

Hikikomori Manager 2012 allows you to live the life of a hikikomori.

* Be an outcast in Japanese society!
* Live a life of solitude, unable to leave your room without having a panic attack!
* Struggle against depression!
* Watch your life decay as you become poor and unhealthy!

There is no clear goal in this game. You might want to try to become a functioning member of society again, or just try to survive as long as possible.

(The latest version can be played at http://www.stack.nl/~vdz/hikki/ . Note that that version is not the version that should be rated for LD22!)

Would not load. Unity applet starts but loading progress bar will not move.

17 days. :( I can do it better in life. XD

I liked this game. Has everything needed. Thx!

P.s: I made a similar game to this one. But in that you not die of depression. :P Try it!

An interesting concept, and a fairly well realised one. The fuzzy photographs and bleary noise soundtrack do more for atmosphere than rushed together game art could.

I'll admit I got bored of the game pretty quickly and just let myself go. This didn't feel inappropriate.

The graphics are appropriate (although the UI could be polished) and the sounds are quite good. It wasn't clear enough to me what each of the options did, but I enjoyed trying out different things for a while.
