Will I always be Mollone? by Catmoo

[raw]
made by Catmoo for LD22 (JAM)
When the theme was announced for LD22 I didn't really know what to do, after quite a while of deciding upon my idea I went with an influence from the American Coast mole, who are a solitary animal, only ever spending time with others during the winter when they find a mate.

Then while reading up more on moles; they have to eat every few hours, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so I felt my game suited their lifestyle.

Annoyingly I hadn't finished the three ending screens by the time that the compo had ended so I decided to go with the Jam instead as there was no point in wasting all the work I'd done.

Of course it has lots of weaknesses but I'll go over those when I create a post mortem, overall though I'm fairly happy with the game, I just wish it was more of a challenge. Which it could have been if I managed to get a few more of my ideas in, I just ran short of time which I blame on sleeping.

Will I always be Mollone? Was made in Game Maker HTML5 but I have it running as an executable as I had some perf issues that made it run at about 2fps so I decided to not submit the HTML5 version, but I'll probably try and fix the issues at a later date so I can put it on my website.

I've only tested it on Windows 7 (64bit) please let me know if you run into any issues.

Yeha, cute. Not a great deal to it but it was nice with appealing presentation.

I found that the controls are a bit sticky and you will continue going in the wrong direction after pressing a different key. You can also get stuck on the edge of the screen. Like you said... it's very minimalist, but it gets the job done.

Nice game! The idea to "split" the game into 2 phases was nice! :D
