Ah, old 'Punch Drunk'... What've you gotten yourself into THIS time?
Stumbling through life, you now face your greatest foe yet: A series of squares and triangles! Huh? That's pretty farfetched, you think? Well... L-life is full of mysteries, I-I guess! H-haha...
Armed with your POWER GLOVES, assert your dominance over the 3rd dimension and smash those creeps in the face! POW! WHALLOP! ZOOP! CRUNCH! ZAK!
Keep in mind, those glorious gauntlets ARE very powerful artifacts - How'd you even end up with them, actually!? I mean, a-anyway, yeah, you need to make sure your energy stays balanced - otherwise, it will engulf you!

I hope you like the game mechanics! I really tried to keep things simple for this Ludum Dare, so this jam has been quite a nice success for me!
It's not as polished as I would have liked it to be, but I deeply feel like this game is finished to some degree at least. Sometimes you've just got to throw other things away to the side so you can focus on the core part of the game jam project. So yeah, I hope using this method paid off!
I'm very excited to hear your thoughts on the game! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking it out! ❤ ❤

Oh, by the way... if you can beat level 5 (the "final round"), you are amazing! It's reeeeally tough, but I can confirm that it is possible to make it through all 50 hellish seconds of it!
Also, please don't expect a great ending or anything! It's dumb... a very dumb ending...
In fact, if you're curious to see what the ending is, here's a link to all the dialogue in the game:

Update 1: Quickly updated the game to fix a tiny glitch with music-overlapping.
Update 2: I managed to beat level 5, and I was rewarded with a game-breaking bug! So I've fixed that, and I've also tweaked level 5's shape movement speed to be slightly faster, so punching is more manageable. The level should be (slightly) more fair now. ;)

The idea of having to hit just to change color in anticipation to what's going to happen is great. :D
Hard to follow, but good job!
I think I die a lot more in the beginning, because I expect it to work like guitar hero, to hit every note, instead of just switching. (negative transfer) But I learned it eventually.
I like the idea about the shields filling up but
when you get off sync its hard to get back on track. I'm not sure exactly why but most of the time on (level 4 and 5), when I would miss one "note" I would have problems to get back on track again and lose a lot, if not all hp/shields.
I like how the dialog and tutorial is presented, while the game is running, it works very well.
nice game play and music :)
