Book Of Hyperion by headchant
Hell, yeah, I made a gameboy styled RPG in 48 hours!!! Inspired by the final fantasy legend, mystic quest(final fantasy adventure) and zelda games.
This is more of a prototype/demo with a lot of bugs and a broken fighting in the compo version. I will definitely continue to work on this.
Reading isn't dangerous, right?
Controls:
'x' - menu
'c' - hand/weapon attack
'v' - fireball attack
'b' - heal

Unfortunately a serious bug stopped me from progressing in that first dungeon (I think that's what you'd call it) located in the forest. I would attack something, and then the player would just started moving across the world from top-left to bottom-right, through the walls and everything. I'm using a Mac.
I fixed those bugs and extended the dungeons. I will link to the improved version shortly
Also, some graphical glitechs occured. ;-)
I thought the target-based fighting in the first version was really interesting and I'm a bit sad you removed it in the later version in favor of more traditional Zelda-style stabbing. I think the targeting could have worked if you didn't require a menu command for attacking (and if fireballs went towards the target as well).
Please smooth out the glitches for a post-compo release I would like to play it more.
