Shadow Tail by Ghostdreamer

[raw]
made by Ghostdreamer for LD35 (JAM)
This is a short game, told in a children's storybook style.

You play as a shadow puppet as it tries to save its snail friend.

Throughout the game, you meet other friends that you can use to help.

NOTES:
The web build has a bit of a graphic compression issue, where everything just looks like blobs... it looks better in the standalone build if you like the game try it out!
Play Windowed 800x600 resoultion!
You can only move in one direction (right).
If you get stuck, turn into the rabbit and jump. That fixes it 99% of the time.
This game was created (art and all) in 12 hours.

I enjoy this concept. It's a great story telling game for young ones :) Visuals are nice as well with great audio.

I really liked the idea. I did get stuck quite a lot, but managed to get past okay in the end.

Lovely narrated story game! Well done. I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who interpreted the theme using hand shadow puppets.

Great interpretation of theme and I love the shadow art style. Controls get a bit stuck but that just needs more refinement. I noticed that in the story the concept of howling to get rid of the birds was explained a level after it had appeared - the on screen controls appeared when the new mechanic did but it would have flowed more nicely if it appeared at the same point in the control and the story. Nicely done overall. :)

Nice Concept. I must admit I enjoyed making the hand change back and forth repeatedly.

Great concept and I loved the style and narration. The shadow puppet story was a very charming idea.

I like being told stories, and I like the graphic choice. It would be much better to have subtitles, because english is not my native language and I had few troubles to understand all the story just with speach, but good little tale game. :)

I-LOVE-THE-IDEA, it's a pity it's not super polished but hey! 12 hours! Great job!! :)

Good job for a 12 hour effort, shame you didn't have more time. A really nice idea and it was a refreshing change from many of the other games produced for this LD. Regrettably, I was unable to finish it as I didn't seem to be able to break the fence with Brutus.
I encountered a few bugs with collisions/camera but you seem to be aware of them already.

I really liked the idea, it reminded me old interactive stories I'd play when I was a kid. I think this could turn into something great if you develop it further.
